He responded very quickly to my original request for information regarding his availability and fee. We had a few communications back and forth before scheduling a date. He arrived on time, set up a folding table with his tools, and went to work. We gave him a list of small jobs that had grown over the years. They included caulking around the kitchen counter and bath tub, fixing a fallen shelf, replacing hinges on a door, installing new smoke detectors and a door lock, and fixing a wonky storm door. He even replaced light bulbs in some hard-to-reach ceiling light fixtures. Though most of the projects were relatively small, he was meticulous in doing them and cleaning up after himself. We recently built a 2nd floor on our cape in Milton and needed walls and ceilings in three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a hallway and stairwell. Bertie was prompt with his bid and was extremely flexible with his start date. He was finished with the entire job in less than four days, which was incredibly impressive. In addition, part of the demolition included tearing down two walls on the first floor and a strip of drywall by the front door. Without asking, Bertie fixed those as well and included them in the price. Furthermore, we are installing a pocket door and need to wait for that before drywall goes up, plus our plumber needs access to the shower before the durock goes up, and Bertie has already committed to helping us with those issues as soon as they are ready.
