"Everyone that works there is decent, professional- and they did a terrify job with my design. I did have a hiccup when they gave me an estimate- apparently the employee doing the estimate on such a big project did not even visit the site- so when the crew got there, they saw some poison ivy and also did not realize the severity of the slope. They at first tried to renege on the contract even though I put a 50% deposit, and signed a contract. I told them that I would pay for the extra cost for spraying down the poison ivy- but unfortunately they gave me the impression that the cost of that would be minimal. Afterwards, they attempted to upcharge me over 20% of the entire project- or close to $2000 for basically weed spraying for 20 minutes on two separate days. They said that they took a lot longer than expected as well- but it wasn't the poison ivy that delayed them- the root of the problem was the employee that did not accurately calculate the scope of the project- and the company wanted me to mitigate for what in their perspective was not as profitable as they wanted. I don't think it's appropriate to renege on a contractor after the client seeks bids, drops those other bids, sends a deposit, and signs a contract. Presumably, a company should survey the project before the estimate. I understand there can be unexpected things that come up- but that's for the unseen or underground- the customer shouldn't be responsible for an estimate not to their liking."

"I actually conducted all of my business with Dand D Excavating via e-mail. The Office Manger, Amy Dorn, answered all of my questions and scheduled the service via e-mail for me. Every single e-mail was answered promptly and I'm talking about within a 24 hour period... I sent an e-mail the night before at 7 p.m. and my e-mail was returned within minutes confirming everything. Amy was extremely pleasant and professional to work with during the entire process. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />They did call me the morning of 09/06 when the topsoil was delivered to let me know they were running ahead of schedule and asked if they could deliver sooner than my regularly scheduled time which was not an issue at all. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I'm no landscaper and I'm a first time home owner. The dirt delivered was brown and well sifted. There were not many rocks at all. Let me throw out a disclaimer. This isn't pitch black organic dirt you'd buy in an expensive 20-pound bag from Home Depot. It is GOOD dirt. I don't think I'd utilize it to start an organic, high-quality garden, but my wife and I purchased this truckload to grade away from the entire foundation of our entire home. I'm placing that disclaimer in because I've read a lot of poor reviews given by individuals who seem to be whole-heartedly disappointed they aren't getting ultra-premium black-as-the-night-sky organic dirt. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Dand D Excavating and Landscape Service, Inc. did everything we asked and then some... they were a pleasure to do business with and I would gladly recommend them to any of my friends and family. "What I like about this lawn care service is that Mark is my contact person and he is the guy who comes to mow our lawn. He does a great job. Our backyard has a swingset, garden areas, and numerous trees. He is able to mow the lawn very quickly and efficiently around everything. He is very thorough and careful. He comes every week and mows and then I receive a statement in my email. I can pay online or by check. He does additional lawn services, but we have only had basic mowing or leaf removal. . "Paid attention to all the little details, wanted to make sure they did something that was professional and would last forever.  Came in absolutely on budget, even though it took more time/work due to a few small changes we made mid-stream.  He was very flexible in working within our limited budget and gave us lots of choices/options.  Had to re-position the steps a few times to make sure they were rock-solid steady and absolutely level, and not subject to erosion, since this back yard work was done on a small hill.  I'd use them again in a heartbeat.  Very clear in letting us know what they would do, then did it.  We got exactly what they said, and what we wanted. <br />"
