"Sarge has been great to work with. I originally hired him to replace an old Pushmatic panel so we could upgrade the kitchen electrical. Once my team started the kitchen remodel, they uncovered some issues with the old wiring. Even though it was outside his original scope, Sarge came back out, tracked everything down, and made sure it was safe and up to code. He goes above and beyond, and I’ll continue using him anytime the need arises. Highly recommend."

"The electricians came in and evaluated the oven, looked in the panel box, told me the breaker code for an electric oven and advised me to replace it. An I followed their recommendation."

"This is the 2nd time I have used Safe Electric and both times I have used them have been great experiences. I had 3 new fixtures installed plus a new circuit run to be used for a new freezer in our finished basement. Jon & Eric were the two electricians that were sent to my home. They worked efficiently and quickly, but did outstanding work. Even though our basement had a finished ceiling, they were able to run a wire through with minimal disruption to the finished ceiling. I had concerns about the alignment of the lights on the fixture (this was a manufacturing defect and nothing to do with their installation) and they obliged me by improving the light alignment. They also cleaned up after they were completed and disposed of the old light fixtures and packaging materials for the new fixtures. Their work was excellent. The only negative aspect was the price which seemed very high to me. The cost for installation of the 3 light fixtures was $462 and the new circuit was $903."

"I had a previously chosen pro from Angi's not show up to upgrade my 50+ yr. old electrical box after confirming the appointment two weeks earlier and paying a $1,600.00 deposit. So I started over searching for an electrician on Angi's List to do the job. Jeremy from J's Electrical/Maintenance responded quickly and provided an estimate with pictures I texted him. We scheduled an appointment for within the week (Sunday, his choice) and he got the job done. It rained off and on that day but most of the outside work was completed between showers. Jeremy was a good communicator, kept me up dated on arrival, supplies needed, time table, and what I needed to know about my new electric box. I look forward to using his handyman services for other projects in the future."

"We called Mr. Electric to provide a quote for removal of existing and installation of a new light fixture in two-story foyer. They were very responsive and sent out a technician within a couple of hours to provide a quote. Once the technician arrived, he proceeded to complete a in-home survey of our electrical panel, exterior electric box and electric meter. He then reviewed the scope of work and came back inside within about 10 minutes. He went over the home inspection and then provided the quote that’s where things went sideways. The quote was $1169! 😳 Again, that is to remove an existing light fixture in a foyer and replace it with a more current contemporary styled one. We explained that the quote was excessive based on our estimates from other providers. He indicated that they had just revised their pricing and that their pricing was in line the other major electric service providers. Needless to say, we explained to the technician that we would not be going with their services due to the price point."

"Guys showed up on time and quickly diagnosed and fixed problem. While here we discussed she and load on house panel and had them install a whole-house surge protector. I had a post house get toasted by a lightning strike so seemed prudent given electronics in house."

"I would absolutely use KAP Electric again for any of my electrical needs. They installed a large ceiling fan in a new location on a vaulted ceiling in our living room. The job was done at a reasonable price, and in a professional manner as stated in their estimate. They were friendly, on time, organized, and performed the work in a timely manner as stated in their estimate."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in New Albany, OH

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
