"I did a complete remodel in Timbergrove Houston. I gave Rafael the 3D design that we had completed by a third party. Rafael came out and took measurements and then provided us a detailed quote. His pricing is really competitive and materials are much better than the larger Houston Cabinet Shops. Rafael installed the cabinet bases after my floors were installed and walls were primed and painted. I had the granite installation scheduled after the cabinet bases were installed. Then Rafael came back to complete the drawer and door installations. I would highly recommend him to everyone in the Houston area. I've seen a lot of cabinets recently (including a few ~$1MM listings) and nothing compares to the quality of his construction. Rafael even completed the bathroom cabinets which were part of another contractors scope who couldn't complete their scope."

"We had several issues that needed to be taken care of as a result of hard to find leak. I made many calls to various companies and handymen to try to get help without getting any satisfaction. I picked JY Handyman Services from Angie’s List and upon meeting Jose he assured me that he could address and fix our concerns. Jose worked on our home in late December and early January when we were having the really cold weather. He did some great trouble shooting, found and fixed the leak, did excellent carpentry, dry wall and painting. Jose and his crew have a great can do attitude and kept me informed throughout the project. I will continue to use JY Handyman Services and recommend them for all general home maintenance and remodeling needs."

"After interviewing several contractors, we chose Ivan. He had great reviews on Angie's list and he was willing to work with us on any changes that we wanted to make and assured us that he would be very hands on in the day to day operation of our project. We were not disappointed. He was always accessible to us by phone or on site. His workers were polite and never intrusive. They were in our home for 5 months and we never had any concerns about them being here. The worksite was cleaned at the end of each day and they always arrived promptly and if they were going to be delayed, let us know.. Ivan is very meticulous in his finishes and was very responsive to changes we wanted to make or questions we had. The job included a rebuilt staircase, fireplace, walls, wainscoting, cabinets, windows, moving of walls, doors, and flooring. Ivan , as promised was here almost everyday and he is a true craftsman. We would not hesitate to hire him again."

"Quick and efficient appoint process - rep came and took measurements and advised that estimate and 3D renderings would be forthcoming by end of week.  Almost a month later, I had to call back and request estimate and renderings - owner or manager called back to apologize and they worked that day and evening to get me what I requested.
Estimate was very high for refacing and I was not willing to invest that amount on my kitchen - I decided to have the existing cabinets painted and delighted with the outcome.

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in New Caney, TX

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
