"Water started gushing out of the top of the hot water tank last night. Called Extra Time this morning and Jason came out today. The shutoff to the tank wasn't working. Had to turn off the water to the house last night. First thing Jason did was get the cold water back on. Then he drew up a quote to complete the work that was needed. I agreed and he went to pick up a new water tank. He came back, installed the tank, and cleaned up the little bit of water that leaked out of the old tank when he removed it. Jason is very professional and does fantastic work. I think this is the third time he has done work for me and if anything else comes up he'll be the first one I call. Highly recommend."

"Huge shout out to the crew at Main Stream Mechanical. Eric came out, reviewed my current system, and gave me his recommendation for replacing my furnace and hot water heater with a new, energy efficient furnace/hot water heater. Brenda, as always, was a pleasure to deal with. Answered all my emails and calls promptly and gave me all the information I needed in a timely manner. She even went out of her way to register my new furnace and provide me with all the information I needed to apply for my rebate! Nick and Marcus did a great job installing my new furnace/hot water heater. Both were very friendly and professional. Nick answered all my questions, gave me a “tutorial” on the emergency shut off procedure for my new furnace, and did a fantastic job re-plumbing all the lines needed for the install. I highly recommend Main Stream Mechanical for all your HVAC needs."

"Tom was responsive, friendly and knowledgeble. Plus, he told me about a hybrid electric water heater that I had no idea existed. I bought one and he installed that too! Now my hot water comes 2.5 times more efficiently and cheaply than a regular electric water heater. Very satisfied with Tom's work and his friendliness. <br />"

"I wanted my kitchen entirely redesigned, but I needed help with the final vision. Some builders are only able to do what you ask. Pierre was able to provided design ideas, color suggestions, samples, etc. He was able to build me a more beautiful kitchen than anything I could have designed. My new kitchen has a better layout, tile floor, granite countertop, sold wood cabinets, all new appliances, including a wall oven - something I always wanted, and a built-in granite bench area. The plumbing was upgraded as well as the lighting which is all energy efficient LED."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in New Castle, NH

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
