"Our property is approximately 2 1/4 acres, has a very narrow limited street access, and is surrounded by 15 adjoining properties. It was the original farm house site from which our development was created many years ago. Our property is an odd trapezoidal shape (with some additional appendages) the sides of which face the backyards of the adjoining homes. Our goal was to provide both security and privacy for our backyard while still maintaining an openness for the front acre. The fenced area would also provide security for our dog Gizmo and our grand-dog Harley in which to run and play. Our design included a 6 foot white vinyl fence, 6 foot black aluminum estate fence, and some 4 foot chain link fence (for the wooded area of the property) for a total of about 1,000 feet of fencing. It also included four custom gates (an eight foot white vinyl gate and 3 twelve foot black aluminum gates). Based on several factors (the estimated cost, referrals from Angie's List and the professionalism exhibited by Robert Stewart) we selected Good Neighbor Fence, Inc. to complete this fence project for us. The crew (Vernon and Maurice) worked through rain, snow and mud to install our fence. Vernon and Maurice were very conscientious, personable and precise, a truly exceptional work team. They were open to questions and came up with solutions when we needed something done a little differently than originally planned. Even Gizmo enjoyed their company and Gizmo and Maurice quickly developed a special bond so it was almost a sad day when they completed our project. Robert completed the estimate, plan and schedule, Vernon and Maurice completed the installation. Overall, it was an excellent job. Good Neighbor Fence, Inc., receives an A+ rating from us."

"We’re very pleased with the work performed by Douglas & Arsenio. Showed up immediately to give a quote and the next day to do the job before snowstorm arrived. We have an aluminum fence with large gaps between posts, and our new puppy got through the fence. We wanted pvc coated steel mesh fencing installed on this , which they did. Part of the fence is on a steep hill, would have been quite difficult for us to do. Problem solved. The men were so nice to work with, and they really cared that we were satisfied. We will certainly use them again."

"The customer service was amazing from the girl, Kelly who answered the phone and scheduled them to come out all the way to the maintenance person there. I appreciated their work and they fixed it fast.

"Carlos did a great job replacing the worn out wood and fascia with PVC. He also replaced some boards on my deck. Everything looks like new and he was very professional and polite. The price was very reasonable too."

FAQs for chain link fence repair or alter projects in New Kent, VA

Installing a concrete reinforcement slab significantly boosts the stability and longevity of your chain link fence. This reinforcement creates a strong foundation that protects the fence from erosion, burrowing animals, and high winds. The installation cost is $4 to $10 per square foot, and this robust base minimizes the need for future repairs while extending the overall lifespan of your fence.

Repairing minor damage such as small holes is far more cost‑effective than replacing significant portions of your chain link fence. Minor repairs cost between $100 and $200, while replacing full sections demands an investment of $1,000 to $2,000. For a fence that is 20 years old or older, having an expert assess it now can prevent repeated repair expenses and secure long‑term durability, thereby safeguarding overall fence performance.

If you'd rather remove your chain link fence than repair or replace it, professionals charge between $3 and $5 per linear foot for the job. There may be additional costs involved if there is extra labor needed, like relocating plants or separating the chain-link fence from other existing structures. This also does not include waste disposal fees.

Chain link fences have an average lifespan of 20 years with regular cleaning and maintenance. They stand out as one of the most affordable and durable fencing options available to homeowners and businesses alike. Chain link fences often last five to 10 years longer than comparable wooden fence installations. Chain-link fences made with a vinyl coating often exceed these estimates, providing even greater longevity and weather resistance.
