"found Supra Inspections through the Angi app. I am more than happy that I did. I originally contacted Supra Inspections for a unit up in Westchester and was introduced to Mr. David Colagiovanni. He was courteous and informative about the inspection process. We arranged an appointment for an inspection, however, the sellers backed out and I had to cancel our appointment in which David was more than understanding as we have yet agreed to the date. David made such an impression, that when our next accepted offer came in, I contacted David again. This time, the seller had set a short inspection date, and David came through, and graciously accepted the time allocated for an inspection, even on a short notice. David was thorough and informative. He explained in detail to this New York City first time home buyer the schematics, if there were any issues that I should be aware of, as well as how to handle any future issues that we may come across. That was huge for me, as well as most appreciated. He is truly an expert in his field, and I would forever recommend Supra Inspections to anyone who is looking for a good and honest residential and commercial inspector."

"We had had a new kitchen put in and then a year later, we had had our kitchen floor redone and basement repaired after a flood in our house.  Water from our washer had flooded the kitchen and laundry room and then flowed through the floor into the basement theater room and rec room.  We had to have a new (porcelain) tile floor put in upstairs and new paint and carpeting throughout the basement.   The work for the new kitchen and then the flood required a huge amount of sanding, spackling and more sanding...etc. The dust in our house was a big problem afterwards from the spackle dust that accumulated  in our ducts.  We decided to have our ducts cleaned and found All States on Angie's list.   It went great!  They were on time, conversant about the state of our ducts.  They did the job.  I have noticed that the air is better in the house and we have much less dust on furniture!  Very happy with their services and I would definitely hire them again.

"We were very pleased when we called Go Green Express during a heat wave. The company who usually services our equipment wouldn't call back as they were too busy, even though we were regular customers. Over the phone, Go Green helped diagnose the problem so the tech could arrive with the correct part. The technician, Jameson, arrived and was polite, knowledgeable and professional. The office called and confirmed our appointment and got someone out quickly, even though we were not regular customers. We would absolutely use them again."

"Vinny at View Master Home Inspections was AMAZING! As first-time homeowners Vinny was great! We would RECOMMEND using him as your home inspector. Not only was he knowledgeable, but he took the extra time to explain what he was doing, and to answer all our questions (there were many). The process was not rushed and was very thorough. We feel that Vinny genuinely cared about helping us make the right decision on the home we were purchasing. After the inspection, he provided us with a detailed report and took time to walk us through it. His report put us in a very good position to negotiate the price of our home and allowed us to ask, with confidence, for credits, which we received. In the end, we ended save more money than we paid for Vinny’s services from the credits we received – Many, many times over! Do yourself a favor and call Vinny at View Master Home Inspection. You will be glad you did!"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in New-york, NY

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
