"Our project to repair damage to our house from an auto accident was completed quickly and with excellence. Drywall and siding were replaced and painted as well as the exterior French doors. There is no indication that there ever was anything wrong. Thank you Joe & Chris!"

"I was surprised at how much work it takes to remove old original doors and install new ones. Robbie did an excellent job of detailing what he needed to do to reframe the doorways to fit the new doors to make a solid and tight close. He also painted the doors. Now that it is complete, it makes our garage look pretty - - imagine that! Robbie also installed a new toilet and determined cause of leak for the old one after having two other plumbing companies come out and be unable to resolve the issue over the last 5 years, leading us to not use the toilet. 24 hours later, no leaking and we have a working toilet. He beat the quotes we got from other contractors, stayed in communication, and showed up on time; a rarity in the world of contractors. Thank you!"

"I cannot express my gratitude enough for Martha Reed and Bill Bisbee, and RBG Incorporated. Their outstanding craftsmanship, conscientious work ethic, attention to detail and overall personal and professional character and nothing less than 1st class!! They installed a beautiful sliding patio door in my dining room, converting from windows to door in my brick home. I did a good amount of homework before selecting a contractor, RBG was the first I met with in fact, and I think I knew then that I wanted RBG to do the work. From our first meet to the last Reed Bisbee Group, Inc. never disappointed! Two very wonderful people who do excellent work for the utmost reasonable cost!! Melissa, Norfolk Va. July 2022"

"Charged more than was quoted. Installation was poor and not at all what was promised at time of purchase/signing. After repeated complaints and visits from this company to rectify issues with installation, i lost faith in their ability to do good work. I had to hire other contractors to make the doors presentable. I would have been better served buying doors from home depot. Paying over 6,000 dollars for nice doors is such a waste when the installation is this poor."

FAQs for doors (exterior) installation and replacement projects in Norfolk, VA

Modern steel doors incorporate protective coatings and finishes that significantly reduce rust potential. These treatments create effective moisture barriers when properly maintained. Small scratches or damage should be promptly addressed with touch-up paint to prevent moisture from reaching the underlying metal.

Doors in coastal or high-humidity environments benefit from additional protective measures and more frequent inspection. With proper care, most steel doors resist corrosion for decades.

Steel doors provide superior resistance against forced entry attempts compared to fiberglass alternatives. The inherent strength of steel creates a formidable barrier that resists impacts and tampering more effectively than composite materials.

While high-quality fiberglass doors offer reasonable security, steel provides an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and structural integrity. For maximum protection, look for steel doors with reinforced strike plates and multi-point locking systems.

Most manufacturers provide warranties covering manufacturing defects for periods ranging from five to 15 years, depending on the product line and quality tier. Hardware components often carry separate warranty coverage, often for shorter durations. Installation services may include workmanship guarantees covering proper fitting and operation. Always review warranty documentation carefully to understand coverage limitations and maintenance requirements that might affect warranty validity.

Provided your existing wood frame remains structurally sound and properly aligned, professional installers can often adapt a steel door to fit. The process requires careful measurement and potentially minor modifications to accommodate the new door's specifications. The frame must provide adequate support for the heavier steel door construction. A qualified installer will evaluate your current frame's condition and recommend appropriate adjustments to ensure proper function and security.
