"We recently moved to Henderson and although the house is brand new, it needs some electrical upgrades. To get started, I called Dead On Electrical Services to install several light fixtures in the garage, an under-cabinet light in the kitchen and a junction box in a hallway. They were prompt, very tidy and did a flawless job, exactly as I wanted it. Earlier I called another electrician in but didnâ t get the feeling he would do a good job and instead went with Dead On. Iâ m glad I did."

"The company called to notify when the employees were coming and called again when they were close to the home. The electrician was highly skilled and able to complete a difficult task. The task involved adding a 20 amp circuit so the new dishwasher could function off of the dedicated circuit and the garbage disposal could receive current from a new electrical box as well. Old meets new for sure and the electrician gave an honest assessment of the power and how the panel should be upgraded and grounded in the future. So...great workers, professional, and importantly everything they did was up to code and SAFE!"

"I was very pleased with Clark Electrical's service. They were quick to respond and schedule an appointment. The technician arrived on time and was polite, knowledgable and professional. He diagnosed the issue fairly quickly, but took the time to explain it to me, which I appreciated."

"I recently hired Carlos from Taranis Electric to upgrade my electrical panel and install a 220V plug, and I couldn’t be more impressed. He showed up right on time, was polite, professional, and respectful of my home. He completed the work efficiently and left everything spotless—so clean, it looked like no work had even been done! I really appreciate the attention to detail and care taken with this project. Highly recommend!"

Small jobs welcome

"Needed panel upgrade since hom built in 70s. The company responded immediately and gave me the best written estimate. I ended up using them for other work as well. On day of panel upgrade (which took about 2wks because that was when energy company could come out to cut all power and remove their meter). Installers did all needed to be done before city inspector came to sign off his okay. It took about six hours to complete whole process ( I guess time varies depending on energy company to turn off and come back to turn on all electricity only after permit city inspectior had signed off on work). Owner and staff were very nice and easy to communicate with. Even when really busy, they make it a point to get back to you as promptly as possible. This is a small family business with a small staff so once I understood this, it made me more comfortable to deal with and help me understand their flexiblity and how I also had to be flexible on appointments. I intend to keep using them for for all my future electrical needs."

"Bill is a highly skilled, steady, competent electrician. He did 2 jobs for me. First, Bill ran conduit and installed circuit boxes. I liked the fine results, so I hired Bill for a 2nd job. Bill installed a power inlet box and a panel interlock kit. He had to rearrange circuits in the panel box to accommodate the new breaker. Bill is dedicated and experienced and I would highly recommend him."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in North Las Vegas, NV

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
