"Found onto Evergreen on Google - Caleb answered and we diagnosed the problem over the phone. Dan was here installing a new holding tank three days later. Dan was awesome and super knowledgeable - we chatted away at all sorts of home maintenance topics. Cost was what I was quoted over the phone. Not stressing next time I have a plumbing/water quality/ heat pump problem."

"When I suddenly had no water on a Tuesday morning, I needed a plumber quick. Brian Bickford was highly recommended by another trusted professional so I called. He came after 5 p.m. and checked the switch, the power and anything else that might have caused a loss of water. No go. So, he said he'd be back to install a new pump for me by Thursday. Again, he and his assistant worked until after 5 p.m. getting the old (1992) pump out. At that point, he told me that it looked as though I could get by with just new wiring if that was my choice. I appreciated the  honesty and decided that since the pump was 21 years old and looking pretty sad, I'd go with the new one. The next day, they were back and things were done quickly. <br /> Once the pump was installed, Brian showed me exactly how to bypass my water softener while the riled up water and bleach worked it's way through, explained how to check to be sure the water was clean and ready to use, and gave me his bill. I expected it would be far more than it was. <br /> I've already recommended Bickford's Plumbing and Heating to a friend who frequently needs work at her home and apartments and I'll be glad to recommend the business to others. <br />"

"The report was very professional and detailed. The response was fast. The price was expensive but due to the detail, understandable. I wouldn't hire again due to multiple requests for a completed report and estimate for the mold remediation and just getting robotic replies that didn't answer my questions."

"To start, this was our situation: our basement has three "rooms", one of which is predominantly a crawl space area. In this section, there is a lot of ledge in the basement, and a LOT of water worked its way into our basement with every rainstorm. On top of this, the crawl space section was closest to the stairwell, so the mildewy smell kind of permeated throughout the house. TC Hafford was extremely easy to work with. Our initial estimate was fast, easy, and informative. They will actually send you detailed brochures and outlines of how they're going to waterproof your space. From there, it became obvious that the customer service and workers really cared about the quality of their work, and in making sure we were happy every step of the way. The service was fantastic, and we always felt "in the loop". The job took slightly longer than expected (it was not an easy job), but the end results were exactly what we had hoped for. What we ultimately had done was this: the team encapsulated our entire crawlspace with the CleanSpace and Waterguard system, then installed a single sump pump to replace the two we already had. To do this, they needed to install Waterguard drainage piping with crushed rock throughtout the basement (which was later cemented over again so it's unobtrusive). Then they covered the ledge and unfinished parts of the basement with CleanSpace with Waterguard underneath, which keeps the moisture separate from the rest of the basement and allows the piping to carry any water down to the sump pump. They then installed a drainage system that led away from the house (again, as unobtrusive and well-done as possible). Given our experience as a whole, we plan to call TC Hafford in the future with any needs, and would definitely recommend them."

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in North Monmouth, ME

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
