"I purchase a number of Angie's list deals because my husband and I were going to refinish our basement. Shortly after purchasing the deals, my husband lost his job and has had four jobs over the last two years. The deals have expired and my husband and I are still trying to catch up on bills. I spoke to Jim Brouse today to see if he could install kitchen cabinets and under cabinet lighting that had fallen off the wall. He was very nice and said that he would try to help me, but I would have to pay his cost, which would be a few hundred dollars. The vouchers that I paid for have long expired and no work was done. Since I have already paid $996, I would like my money back, so that I can buy other Angie's List deals and have my cabinets mounted."

"I agreed. I must say Joe pulled two samples out for flooring on his first visit. One laminate and one high grade, the $2,900 quote was for the higher grade, with $1,500 for the laminate . George was dispatched on the 2nd visit and quoted $1.050.00 for the countertop. I agreed to have the countertop but not the floor. Countertop was installed on December 23rd. Looks good except for a 2 foot section where the is about an 1/8 separation between the counterop  and the backsplash, Called for service on it and after a couple of calls the contractor returned and caulked with clear caulk. Mind you the wall is a bit uneven and when the counter was installed a wood piece wedge was placed between the sink and the wall on the countertop to keep the backsplash from pulling away from the wall. When they came for the service call I asked if they could shim under the countertop to raise it up at the problem area for the countertop to meet the back splash. They said no. I questioned why they were using clear caulk instead of colored to match. They insisted clear would be fine. Well it ain't. Just this morning the "clear" caulk got a little wet and turned to its original white. Now I will have to wait for it to turn clear again when it dries. I have since located colored caulk and will try to fix it myself. How can I show a house with the caulk changing colors?
The floor I had done with LOMAX. It was about the same type as Father and Son and only cost $970.00, Have always used LOMAX in the past and they have done great jobs at really good prices.
I must advise you that I will pay more for work to be done as long as it is done right. The cheapest price is not always the best. I also don't like to waste contractors time by getting all kinds of quotes. Apparently you have to. I have had work done in the past by Father and Son in the form of a new bathroom. (15,000.00) They did come out to service it a few times, so they do try to stand behind their work. Problem I have with that bathroom is that after 3 years the ceiling paint is peeling and the light fixture is pitted with rust. In questioning that I said I don't think there is a lifetime warranty. Father and Son felt the bathroom is not properly ventilated. Well there is a skylight. and I had none of these problems in the previous 33 years I lived in the house.  Oh, I busted my butt to fix the bathroom ceiling. I painted, it peeled. Took a week of spackling, sanding and painting but looks good now. Probably was no primer coat as best I can figure.
I was so hot over the initial pricing that I was telling my elderly mother-in-law who I first learned about Father and Son from. She had crown molding in her living room, dining room and foyer. Additionally. she had a new kitchen floor put in too.
She told me that Joe initially quoted her $2,900 dollars for the molding. She said it was too high and told Joe that it was and she wanted a kitchen floor too. He immediately dropped the molding down to $1,900.00. Go figure. ,   Mom had Father and Son did do the molding and the floor. The contractor on the floor put a big scratch in the floor while putting back the refrigerator and still demanded payment. He was told to go scratch and Father and  Son came out to see the problem and had the contractor replaced the scratched materials. So in her case Father and Son did a good job.
Given everything I can't give them any better than a C rating. I was gonna raise it to a B if the countertop went well but it didn't.
Overall it looks ok but far from perfect. Having to fix it myself is annoying.
I think that you have to approach getting a price for work done on your house to like buying a car. You have to haggle. I prefer for the contractor to just estimate the work and give me their best price, end of story."

FAQs for wrought iron fence installation projects in Oaklyn, NJ

Galvanizing is the best way to keep rain from eating away at your wrought iron fence. The process coats each bar in a thin layer of zinc, sealing out moisture and blocking rust. Most panels come pre-galvanized, but you’ll still want to wash and repaint every few years to keep that shield intact.

Skipping galvanization may save a few dollars up front, yet you’ll spend far more later repairing corrosion or replacing sections outright.

Expect to pay more for wrought iron than for wood at the outset, but iron wins the long game. A standard wood fence runs $1,700 to $3,900, yet you’ll sand, stain, and eventually replace it. Wrought iron may double that initial tab, but it can last 50 to 100 years with a quick paint job every few seasons. Factor in fewer repairs and less upkeep, and iron often edges out wood on lifetime cost.

Hiring a pro to paint wrought iron runs $8 to $10 per linear foot, a price that covers careful prep, rust removal, and high-grade paint for long-term protection. DIY-ers can trim that labor bill, but you’ll need quality brushes, rust-inhibiting primer, and time to apply multiple thin coats. Skimp on prep or materials, and the finish will peel sooner, forcing you back to square one.

A well-maintained wrought iron fence easily lasts 50 to 100 years. Plan to wash it annually and sand-and-repaint every two to three years to keep rust from gaining a foothold. If you spot flakes or pitting early, touch-up paint stops corrosion in its tracks. When in doubt, a local fence pro can walk you through a maintenance schedule tailored to your climate.

Homeowners choose wrought iron fencing because it delivers exceptional security and a timeless aesthetic. This fence offers robust protection that deters intruders while providing a classic look that elevates property curb appeal.

Its construction from high-grade materials ensures lasting durability and reduces maintenance needs. The design also enhances home value and offers consistent strength and elegance.

Wrought iron fencing is available exclusively through certified local fence installation companies and reputable specialized suppliers. This source guarantees high-quality materials and professional installation that adhere to strict performance standards.

Homeowners will find that these trusted providers deliver materials backed by quality control and expert support, ensuring an investment that meets both durability and aesthetic expectations.
