Extensive prep work brought all shingles back to a like-new condition. After the prep work, there was no loose, flaking or extra paint from previous paint jobs. His crews demonstrated attention to detail by scraping underneath all the shingles to remove old paint that had built up over decades, instead of just scraping the vertical surfaces. Each shingle had about 4-6 layers of old paint on the bottom edge, which was causing the bubbling/cracking on the shingle face.
The trim work was outstanding. His carpenter is very knowledgeable, and produced excellent repair work.
The coordination of the prep work, some gutter removal, the carpentry and the painting itself was flawless.
The work was ordered to ensure that the paint had maximum adhesion.
The final result is 2 nice, thick coats of paint on the entire exterior and complete repairs to all the deferred maintenance on the exterior woodwork and fascia.  
The colors are fantastic. Ron did a great job working with us to choose a color palette that fits in with the neighborhood, and also has a small distinctive touch. The house is ready to either resell, or enjoy for the next 10 years without any worries about peeling or cracking.
If you're concerned about cost, I would recommend figuring out the cost per year until the next time you have to repaint. Based on the prep work, workmanship, high-quality materials and attention to detail, it should be 10 years before the next time we have to repaint.  
Some painters can spray and pray another coat. They just put a coat of paint on top of dirt or mildew, or a flaky/cracked paint job will just fail in a few years. Doing a good job on the pre work, and ensuring that all the caulking and trim work is done correctly will ensure that this lasts a good 5-10 years without any signs of cracking/peeling. If you want a cheap spray job, look somewhere else or conduct a low bid.

Yes, the labor involved in power washing, scraping and proper preparation is more expensive than just renting a sprayer. In all, there were about 6 people on ladders working for 3 days removing storm windows, power washing, and scraping the house. That labor cost is real, but worth it. If you're considering DIY, the scraping was all done in 90 degree heat for 12 hours per day. The primer was applied each day after the same day the prep work was completed. .
The materials and paint were the highest quality. The boards used on the fascia are straight as an arrow. The Porter Permanizer paint is the top of the line, and cost a bit more. If the higher quality materials can extend the next repainting by a year or two, it will be well worth it.
The "A" for price is based on a per year basis. I went over every surface before the prime coat, and found no cracked or flaking paint before the primer was applied. I don't think we're going to paint at all for another 7-10 years."
