"Just finished a visit with Foreman Doug and his crew, Devin, Sean, and Mason. Waterproofing the basement and super sound and solid work! Doug was professional and very good at keeping me in the loop with the project over the 3 day visit, and created a solid system that we are confident will keep water out of the basement forever. Above and beyond as well with problem solving when having to find solutions to fit our basement layout, all with a solid financing option/great price and 5 year warranty/ yearly inspection plan. If you are stuck with water in your basement, get Groundworks working for you ASAP!"

"I had a basement waterproofing project done by TC Hafford in March costing over 19K. It is now July and my basement is full of water, once again,on this rainy day. I have been back and forth with this company for months, and after sending someone in who finally admitted to faulty installation, I am still waiting for them to fix their mistakes. I absolutely would never recommend this company to anyone."

"Went well up front. Careful of there ten year guarantee. Had them come so we could finish our bathroom in our basement. We Finished our basement after they finished their work. Five years later the leak reappeared in the exact spot it was when we first contacted them. When we called to tell them about the leak, they told us we have to rip apart our 8K bathroom to prove them it was their work. The leak was in the same spot when they originally came out. Because of this I would not recommend them. The rip out and the replacement is on our dime. I think the guarantee is very Limited."

Concrete is everywhere- it is the material of choice in heavy construction and foundations. It's sheer mass and compressive strength make it one of the most substantial materials ever. But, concrete is prone to cracking from shrinkage and settling. Freeze/thaw cycles, heavy equipment, and blasting can also cause damage. Concrete Prescriptions has the unique ability to repair any resulting defect efficiently and effectively.

"Basement Improvements waterproofed my basement and poured a new concrete floor. Both my basement steps were ruined by Basement Improvements, LLC. I have steps from my garage to the basement that they removed and destroyed. They also ruined the step from my house to the basement by cutting the steps instead of putting the concrete around the step. They cut the steps 2" high. They also buried the lines from my oil tank and heater in concrete. I filed a complaint with the BBB and expect to be reimbursed. The communication was incredibly poor throughout the entire process. I did not know my steps would be cut or that my lines from to the oil tank and heater would be buried in concrete. Nothing about the process was communicated to me until I asked a series of process questions. My questions about the process were treated as a burden. It was never communicated to me that my steps would be cut. It was never communicated to me that my connections would be buried under concrete. It is never communicated to me that my steps up to the garage would be damaged. I regret using Basement Improvements and wish I had chosen a more professional and responsible business. I regret not choosing TC Hafford. I choose Basement Improvements because the cost was lower, but with all the poor workmanship, my cost is higher. Don’t make the same mistake I made, choose a professional company to do this work."

"It went terribly. The owner promised his company was better than the others in the area because he uses 4-5 inches of topsoil, where his competitors use 2 inches. He talked up the seed that he uses, and that after installation in June of 2020, he would be back in the fall to weed and feed (which they did), and after all the trouble we had, said he would return in the spring of 2021 to fix it. That did not happen. What we got was 2 inches of topsoil, barely enough to cover some stumps we had ground, weeds, lots of weeds, more weeds than grass, then came the crabgrass which choked out any seed he put down. He did not come back this spring, so now our front yard is weeds, clover, some grass, crabgrass, and no grass growing where the three stumps were. And he tried to charge us for extra topsoil! I would never recommend Black Bear Landscaping."

"Hazelwood Handyman was amazing. They were on time, did a great job and came in at the estimated price. One thin guy moved a frig that weighs at least 800 pds- it took 4 movers to put it in place when installed. I was amazed! Highly recommended."

FAQs for foundation, basement or crawlspace waterproofing / encapsulation projects in Ogunquit, ME

The most affordable way to waterproof your basement is with interior methods like waterproof paint, costing between $1 and $8 per square foot, or silicate concrete sealers priced at $4 to $6 per square foot. However, these solutions are only suitable for certain issues. If your basement moisture is due to more serious problems like a cracked foundation, you'll need more extensive (and costly) repairs.

Absolutely! Waterproofing your basement is a smart investment that can increase your home's value. By keeping your basement dry and free of moisture problems, you protect your home's structural integrity and make it more appealing to potential buyers. Plus, taking proactive measures now can prevent costly water damage repairs down the line.

The time required to waterproof a basement depends on the selected method. Some approaches to interior waterproofing, like paint or sealant, can be completed within a day. Installing new drains or weeping tiles will need at least two to three days of labor. Any forms of exterior waterproofing that require you to excavate land will require an additional three days of work to prepare the ground.

Yes, basement waterproofing can significantly increase your home's value. A dry, leak-free basement is a strong selling point for potential buyers, enhancing your property's desirability and market price. Investing in professional waterproofing not only protects your home's structural integrity but also ensures a healthier living environment by preventing mold and mildew growth.

Waterproofing both the interior and exterior of your basement offers the best protection against moisture. Exterior waterproofing stops water from penetrating your foundation, while interior methods manage any moisture that does enter. If you must choose one, exterior waterproofing is generally more effective, as it prevents water from reaching your home's interior in the first place.
