"I have been a homeowner for over 20 years, and have never experienced such a horrible business encounter. My experience with Express Fence Service run by Vincent Walters was TERRIBLE! He comes off very polite at first until he's required to be accountable for his work. First, he measured my property incorrectly and under quoted his fee for installation. Once he measured the fence again, the price was almost double which was understandable due to the additional yards he had to add. Because of this, I had to put off getting the fence due to the new price being out of my original budget. We discussed minor details of fence on and off over several months after this. I told him that I was still interested, but needed to work out of town to make up the financial difference. I also told him that I'd be in touch with him when I was ready to have him install the fence. The next thing I know, he installs the fence while I am out of town without my knowledge. The only way I learned that he installed it was from several emails that I discovered from him with pictures of the installed fence stating that I owed him for the fence that he installed several weeks prior and that I was being "irresponsible" by not responding back to him. I immediately called him when I discovered his emails and asked him why he didn't just call or text me instead of emailing me prior to the installation since we primarily communicated via calls and texts anyway. He told me that he thought I checked my emails everyday after work. I told him that he arrived at this conclusion on his own and that for years I hardly ever check my personal emails due to the type of work that I do! I looked at the pictures that he sent of the fence and they appeared fine so I had a local family member to pay him since I was out of town. Once I made it back into town weeks later, I was able to see the fence in detail and one of the first things I noticed was that he put a gate in the back (which i never asked for) and the main double gated entrance doors were uneven and difficult to opened because they kept getting stuck on each other. I notified Vincent Walters of this and he came back out several days later and shaved parts of the wood on the entrance so that the doors would not stick. This, however didn't change the fact that the doors were still uneven along the top and the bottom. I voiced my concerns about how uneven and sloppy the doors looked and he tells me that his job is "99% perfect" and that I should not make "mountains out of molehills". I let him know that I didn't pay him 99% of what he asked for ($6812.50) and that the entrance looked horrible due to the uneven doors. He yells saying that the world has "bigger problems" like "hunger & homelessness" and that he will get back over to fix the doors when he could. He never gave me a date as requested. Therefore, I asked him to call or text me before arriving at my property. I didn't hear from him for several weeks and one day I was in my backyard and attempted to exit through the main double gate entrance and the doors would not open. I pushed and pushed and pushed and they would not open! I went back inside of my house through my back door and came outside through my front door and discovered that he had placed a latch / hinge at the bottom of the entrance that locked me inside of my backyard. I was very upset because first of all I asked him not to come onto my property without my knowledge and secondly had he let me know he was coming I would have told him that putting a latch on the outside of the gate would create a fire hazard for me and I would have told him not to do it. Ten months later, he still hasn't removed the latch nor corrected the sloppy uneven gate that he installed. The doors blow open in the slightest wind causing more unnecessary wear and tear. I am still within my warranty and I feel like he's trying to avoid doing anything while waiting for my warranty to expire. I hope this is not the case. Stay away from Express Fence unless you want a headache from dealing with an arrogant man. He talks a nice game until he is paid, however his work is shabby along with his integrity and professionalism. As of today, 11/27/22, Vincent Walters has not corrected the issue and continues to send very inappropriate emails that make me feel uncomfortable involving dating and marriage, instead of fixing his terrible fencing job."
