"Decided not to hire this company. Prices were about what was expected, but product seemed a bit lower in quality than some comparable items I shopped around for. The reason for the lower rating is do to the showcase room. Twice, I trekked over to the showcase brick and mortar building. Both times I confirmed business hours. Both times no one was there to open up the facility. I waited 40 minutes after opening hours for an employee to open up the showroom. During that time, I called multiple times - no one answered. I left and ran another errand, returning about an hour later. No one there and no one answering phone. I called a 'main' number. I was simply told they were open. I tried explaining that no one was there. No one called me back, either, after leaving my information on a messaging service at the showcase room. Oh well...I gave up."

"I was a little nervous about ordering windows on the internet using measurements I'd taken myself, but I loved the design on the website so, initially I only ordered 2 windows to check the quality, my ability to measure accurately and the company's ability to build to my measurements. Jeff, the salesman I dealt with was attentive without being overwhelming and the first order was delivered in about 4 weeks. The windows were exactly what I was looking for and fitting them was a breeze. I followed up with another order for the remaining 13 windows in my porch and again, they arrived quickly, were of great quality, exactly to size and easy to fit. Looking forward to see how they last their first winter."

"We got 3 estimates but chose Sunroom Escapes because of price and being able to customize size of the room and the quality of the windows and door and also the professionalizm of Rick helping us to decide on our choices. Rick was there everyday to help or oversee his crew who were also very friendly and knowledable. <br /> After almost 4 years we have had no issues with the sunroom and consider it our get away room with being heated and cooled we are able to enjoy the room all year long! <br /> I would recommend Sunroom Escapes for your Sunroom from our experience. <br /> Bonnie Bloodgood <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Overall, okay. They did the job and after a few back and forths, all of the small things they'd forgotten were done (e.g. type of shutters wasn't correct, so were reordered; exterior light was broken during work, so they fixed; new outlet installed as they'd broken one, etc.) Where I've downgraded them is for the lack of extras offered. As I watch neighbors get their siding done, their projects include repainting of the garage door and wood porches, brick/stone façade on the foundation wall, chimney cap, etc. We were not offered any similar services and in fact, when I asked about painting, they said no. A year later, my house looks incomplete as I have projects related to the residing that I need to do and my neighbors have nice new looking homes. If you just want new siding, bare bones project, this company is for you. If you want a complete project, I would look elsewhere."

"We are happy with the Windows.  However I suspect that the pricing floats according to visibility of project (busy street + sign = more 'discount').  I will say the installation went smoothly and we are happy with the result.  We didn't realize that there'd be a ledge in front of these new windows - kind of looks goofy, but for replacement windows I'm sure we could have done worse.  Installers were good & professional.  Some of the windows are difficult to lock. Also, the EPA Lead Testing fee is complete bunk. I don't think they did anything different in terms of making sure the lead paint dust didn't come into the house. The only time they put up a screen was for the front door installation. I bet the windows went to the landfill jus the same. <br />"

"Sam was available fast (I called Friday, he came Monday), got the job done quickly and accurately, and cleaned up after himself when he left. He had to go buy a part, but even so had the job done within a couple of hours. Fan looks great and works perfectly. Have saved his number in case other jobs come up."

"Moving the big section of the deck took a few days and a lot of workers, and it went smoothly (to my amazement). The deck railing replacement had some delays due to parts availability. My only quibble was that the new deck spindles could have been sanded before installation and one of the mitre cuts was a bit off."

"Mat came over one evening and listened to our desired outcome.  We walked through the project and he inserted some of his thoughts about how we could make it better.  He later brought over his wife to insert her thoughts and we came came up with a few more ideas that made our project even better w/o raising our budget. <br /> Work began on 11/11/14. <br /> Matt was professional & respectful throughout the entire project.  My wife was home during this entire project & he and his team treated her with the utmost respect. <br />  We added to the project and Matt was very gracious in accommodating the changes.  Matt found the floor tile for us and was a perfect match for our color schemes. <br /> Getting into the guts of the project it was discovered there was little insulation in the walls (about an 1 1/2") and there was none in the floor supports, the ceiling was void so once again plans changed and Matt met the needs. <br /> We highly recommend Matt for any remodeling needs!! <br /> Mike & Linny Hutton <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Onawa, IA

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
