"It looks fine.  I thought the patches would blend in better.  They are rougher and obviously patches.  They were good about doing the work on the days they said and were able to do the work while I was out of town.  They are nice people and good to work with. <br />"

"We met with John Pond on July 24, 2012 for an estimate to remove and replace our existing blacktop driveway. In addition to enlarge our driveway by over 525 sq. ft. Mr. Pond was on time, professional, courteous, and explained the entire process - from depth of stone base to thickness of asphalt material. <br /> <br /> We were provided with a written estimate that was very reasonable. We had two other blacktop companies out for estimates, but Budget Blacktop is the one we'll choose in the Spring. We plan to have the work done in the Spring of 2013. <br />"

"Tony Senatre Concrete removed and installed a new front porch stoop and sidewalk. Tony returned my call promptly. They did the work at a property for me in Rockford where my wife's grandmother lives. I was very concerned about hiring a contractor out of state that I didn't know, especially to do work for a 90 year old woman's house. Tony showed up when he said he would, did the demolition and removal promptly and poured the stoop and sidewalk. They also installed the railing and finished everything in a few days. They were courteous to my wife's grandmother and by all accounts did an excellent job. Though I have to admit I've not seen the work, people I trust tell me so. Very happy with the results, considering I was concerned about being taken by a contractor who knew I wouldn't see the results for awhile. Thanks. <br />"

"Robert at Mindset Construction did an excellent job on each of the 3 projects I hired him to complete. He first constructed a new deck, the deck is beautiful and the job went perfect. <br /> He then installed a new wood privacy fence, again attention to detail and the quality of his work is great. <br /> Finally he installed a new concrete sidewalk from the garage door to the new deck. The sidewalk is perfect, like the other projects he completed for me, the quality of his craftsmanship is great. <br /> Robert always kept me informed of his schedule, he was always on time each day he was scheduled to work,  he was very easy to work with, and his prices are competitive in the market.  I would absolutely hire them again and we are starting discussions for another project. I have already recommended him to my son to do some work for him too.   <br /> No issues, Very prompt, High quality of work, Honest contractor. A+ <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Orangeville, IL

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
