I had a suspicion that I did not really need that much for what I was wanting but planned to get three quotes before I hired someone for the project. There were two men sent out to my home. They stood in the kitchen and plugged information into a tablet with a generator sizing tool on it and told me I needed the 22 kw. They did not look around the house, or explain anything to me about how the process worked. I ended up going with another company who was very communicative and informative and purchased a 16 kw generator and with installation and everything it was $6570.68.
