Customers say: Quick response

"JLC contacted me immediately and came out quickly to scope out the job and provide an estimate. Jim seems like an experienced and knowledgeable electrician. I hired him to do the work but was not happy with the workmanship in the end. Jim and his helper made an unnecessary hole in my drywall while installing a new receptacle, then did a bad job patching it. I ended up having to fix it myself. Also they did not recess a quad receptacle in my workspace as I had requested. Had to have them return to fix that too, as well as replace an oversized exterior GFI outlet they installed on the siding. I accept responsibility for that one, as I feel we did not have clear communication about my expectations. They were responsive when I called to complain about the work, and came out to fix everything quickly. I know Jim was not happy, but he remained professional and did what I asked. At the 2nd visit, I paid the low end of the estimate and told them to bill me for the rest, but they never did."

"I hired Prime Sine Electric LLC for a complete new electrical service and wiring on our 1937 home when purchased. It was in need of a complete gut-job. Spence did an amazing job bringing it up to today's standards. I mean, totally amazing transformation. Spence was professional the entire time through the quote process, customer service and final completion. He listened to our needs and gave input and helped us with planning the electrical needs of this old house. We can't recommend Spence enough and would hire him again in an instant."

"Charles was heartily recommended by my neighbor who, like me, has lots of home remodeling experience. The main task was to replace a whole house generator and, as it turned out, upgrade/rationalize multiple older panels servicing a big home, apt and shop. Charles presented several options with rough estimates, I picked one and he gave a firm estimate with itemized parts list and labor. We picked a date and Charles executed the plan…as planned. A little color. Charles is a big, fit, articulate young man with a strong sense of how a professional ought to comport himself. He started work on the main panel in my garage. Late November in NH. His shoes were sitting by the door and he was working in his socks. I didn’t expect it but what a pleasure to find such a pro. What about $ you ask. I estimate that I saved $10k compared to you know who."

This master closet is beautiful! I'm glad I was given the opportunity to add the lighting in here!
Here is an example of a new 200 amp panel planned to allow upgrades. Extra spaces and all required breakers are GFCI and AFCi protected per 2023 NEC code. Now this home owner will not have to worry about their electrical being unsafe!

"Pleasure to work with. Peter is very knowledgeable, transparent about the work he conducted. He returns all phone calls and is very punctual showing up for all scheduled appointments prior to my appointment and the day of the scheduled appointment. The new service and electrical panel installation went just as Peter said it would and the inspector even commented on the work being done very nicely and well done. I would highly recommend using Peter for all electrical work and other services he provides. I am looking forward to new air conditioning being installed by Peter next year!!!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Ossipee, NH

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
