"Excellent job!! It was a pleasure working with E. Stanley Asphalt Paving. Joe did the estimate and was my contact and was there with the crew when the job was done. When Joe left during the paving, after having discussed the plan and what was being done, he introduced me to his father who stayed there until the job was done. Before the repaving the driveway was in bad shape and no work had been done on it for over 35 years but it now looks great! This is a top notch multigenerational family business. I highly recommend them."

"About 10 or 11 years ago, AC Paving installed a new asphalt driveway for us. Our original driveway was gravel and dirt. We were extremely please with the work and the price. The driveway has held up beautifully through the years, but it was looking like it needed sealant and we had a damaged area where water has frozen and thawed over and over. Today, AC Paving showed up at our home. They were in the neighborhood doing work and they remembered us from years ago. They immediately got to work and now we have a lovely, good as new drive. I highly recommend this company. They do good work, they clean up after themselves, and the owner is always on the job with his crew, seeing to every detail. We will always continue to call them when we need their services. Dawne Miller, Upper Marlboro"

"They showed up promptly for an estimate. We were originally told we could get on the schedule in a week or 2. They had a cancellation, called me, and ended up completing the work within a few days of the estimate. They arrived on time, performed all the work they said they would, all in one day. They charged exactly what they quoted. They hauled away all waste and roped off the driveway. It has now completely cured, and it is fantastic. We have only been driving on it about a week, but we see no signs of a lurking problem. Also, they were $700 less than the estimate we received from a competitor. I would absolutely hire them again. In fact, I plan to hire them to provide seal coats of the driveway every other year."

"My parents who are in their 80's had a buried oil tank that was not sending oil to the burner, and we called GreenTrax. They did an amazing job - responsive, professional and great customer service. The crew arrived and diagnosed the issue as a leaking oil tank and immediately took action to resolve the issue, including notification and filing the necessary paperwork to conduct an environmental cleanup. They dug out the contaminated soil, hauled it away for proper disposal and backfilled the hole. They also installed a new above ground oil tank so that the oil burner could work again. They kept my parents and me informed throughout the process - true professionals and I recommend them highly!"

"Spring asphalt work = dodging the rain showers.  With that in mind I thought they were coming on Wednesday but they showed up on Tuesday.  Hey, better early than late right?   They did all prep work, filled the seam between the halves of the driveway and applied a nice thick coat of sealant.  All good! <br /> I went out to check on the job and found sealant splattered all over the stone face of the retaining wall along the driveway!  They kept it wet and tried scrubbing it off - no good.  They ran back to the shop and returned with some type of masonry cleaner and began scrubbing.  About two hours later it was clean as new. <br /> Long story short, it's not about doing a perfect job all the time but about correcting things and making it right when a mistake is made.  They never complained and they stayed and did what was necessary to make things right.  Every speck of seal coat had been cleaned off the wall.  I was concerned that all the water and cleaner on the hour old seal coat would wash it off.  It didn't appear to wash any of it away and I was assured that if it did, they would coat it again the next day. <br /> Steve stopped by the next day and made sure I was happy with the job and inspect the crew's work himself.  The seal coat was great and no reapplication was required. <br /> They did a good job and I would use them again. <br />"

"Super professional and courteous.  Very responsive and accommodating with respect to meeting times for estimates and actual work days.  Both sales (brian) and the home office were fine to deal with. <br />  My only complaint is that the person doing the estimates and the selling didn't necessarily understand the work like the people doing the actual work.  Specifically, he assumed some things that turned out to be bad assumptions.  <br /> On my new paving, I specifically asked about grade with respect to drainage and he said that the paving team would have no problem continuing the grade of the existing driveway to facilitate drainage toward the back of the lot.  I was concerned I might need to put in a drainage pipe/seam between sections of the driveway. He said that was unnecessary.  The paving team could not in fact make that happen as he suggested and they wound up putting in a little swale in the asphalt and water still does pool a bit.  I should have had a better plan and been more demanding...but they could have been more informed about the options and consequences when discussing the project.  <br /> With respect to the seal-coating, when prepping the driveway for them (I decided to pressure wash the drive with krudd cutter) I was blowing debris from a crack at the end of the driveway where it meets the street.  A lot of asphalt crumbled away leaving a large crack. Concerned, I forwarded pictures to sales asking if it could be 'crack-filled' or if it needed to be patched.  He said that the seal-coating crew would put crack filler no problem.  Well, the seal coating crew said no way - too big...so they just seal-coated right over the big gap...which still needs to be patched.   <br /> Bottom line, remember the person selling you the service is not the person doing the service, get a second opinion, know what it is you want, and be demanding and skeptical.  <br /> I did feel like the cost was very reasonable - I'd be more upset if it had been more expensive.  <br />"

"They were on time and they were prepared. Their contract was very clear and there was no doubt in my mind about what I would be getting. They gave me three contracts to look at for different types of work if I didn't want to spend as much as I did. They were efficient, professional, and it looks great! I've gotten many compliments on the driveway."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Owings, MD

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
