Customers say: Quality work

"I hired Sun Boss to design and build a custom sunroom for my family. They were mindful that my wife had disabilities due to her stroke and ensured that my wife would not have difficulty entering the Patioroom. It turned out great, they exceeded all our expectations. What I really liked is the company is licensed insured bonded and registered and in business since 1947. Their salesman Gunner and Sun Boss was honest and straight forward and very easy to work with. Their crew was polite hardworking and skilled. I highly recommend this company. I give them an A+ ð ð"

"We hired McCormick for a bathroom remodel, and the whole process was smooth and professional. Khaled helped us make smart choices on design and materials that worked for both our budget and style. "I was having a hard time finding someone that could help and quickly; on account of the heavy rain lately. Bill was a life saver, seeing as I needed the work done before I could sell my home, and he managed to get out to me within days rather than weeks like everyone else. Unlike others I have worked with, Bill stuck to the appointment time he offered, did great work, and at a fair price. I highly highly recommend them and thank them for helping to keep my house sale on schedule."

"They were pretty good. I'm thinking of getting that one. The problem is we live in a homeowner's association and I didn't submit the bid in the day even though the contractor came out and told me that they did install patio covers in here. I talked to the property manager; he's in charge of the homeowner's association. He said he doesn't think they'll put a patio wood cover, aluminum wood cover in here but even though I think I've seen them. But I might try to do it again, and we're in the process of getting pavers in and we're running into a problem because we've got a gas line that we have to ... that's underneath the gas line from the house, and we've got to figure out what that is, and then we're going to put an oven out there so we've got to figure out how to get a plumber to install the sink line to the sewer, and then we have to figure out where to put it. I didn't have them do anything yet. They gave me a price of about $8000. I thought it'd be more. They came out right away. I was talking to the owner beforehand. I asked him if he would do a wood cover because I'd seen what we could get and he said they don't do wood covers because he takes a lot of wood covers down. He said the aluminum wood is better. I agree, he convinced me, but I don't know that the homeowner's association would go for it. It'd probably be better because we had a lattice at another place and we had not termites, but we had rot, wood rot on the bottom of it we had to get fixed.. They came out when they said they were going to come out. The owner didn't come out; somebody else came out. I would tell a friend to give them a call, but I would tell them that if you live in a homeowner's association you have to check with the board, because we didn't submit it yet because what happens is it's like a catch-22. When you submit it you have to do it within a few months or six months or something like that, so we don't know if we're going to do that and then if they said ok ...but what happens is that ... and then we're going to do pavers. We have just enough money to do one thing at a time, once this year. And what happens is we have wood patio covers we want to match ... we have a tile roof and we'll want to match that and that's like $20,000."

"This experience was a mixed bag.  The first contact with the salesman, went well, he was pleasant an knowledgeable, he measured and gave us an estimate, and we scheduled the work to be done.  The estimate was a blanket estimate with no detail or itemization which we would have been more comfortable with.  He said that his foreman would be in touch with us right away.  The foreman came out, was very pleasant, viewed the job site made an adjustment to the plans eliminating one of the supports which he said we would get credit for and would call the salesman for the cost adjustment and they would contact us.  weeks went by and we repeatedly had to ask for the credit.  The salesman never did call us back, but we finally received the credit from the office. <br /> Originally the install was scheduled for October 4th.  That was a day both my wife and I had off and wanted to be there.  The day before the scheduled work, the foreman called and said they had cut the material from the wrong color and we would have to reschedule which we did.  I had to take a day off from work in order to meet this new appointment. <br /> They day of the install, the foreman showed up early with one other installer and got to work.  At the initial meeting with the foreman he assured me no to worry about removing the items on the patio that they would do everything.  Wanting everything to go smoothly, the day before I removed the potted plants, most of the furniture, and the carpet, everything except the rug pad and the sectional.  As the crew started work, they dragged the sectional off the patio, but left the rug pad and started walking all over it with their tools and ladders.  I said "Hey guys, I moved everything else for you, can we move the rug pad?"  which they finally did. <br /> After that the work went smoothly and quickly.  They were done in about 4 hours.  But the quality of the installation was lacking.  They left a very noticeable 2 inch gap where the header meets the house, and the molding on the outside we were told would extend 4-6 inches was actually 13 and looks very odd considering the size of the cover. Not great installation. <br /> When they were finished, the slid the sectional back on the patio and left.  Not even an offer to reload the furniture back onto the patio.  So Much for the offer that they would take care of everything. <br /> This wasn't a terrible job, but not a great one either.  I am sure I could have gotten worse, but I am also sure I could have gotten better. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Palm Springs, CA

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
