"Super customer service! Everything was totally explained to me and what needed to be done on installation. Brett was very informative & by the time he explained everything to me, I didn't have any questions. Brett was very professional but also easy to talk to. I love to support local businesses & EEHI LLc is that kind of company. All work was guaranteed. I strongly suggest you book an appt. with EEHI. My radon count went from a 10 to a .02 when he came back for final reading! I feel so much safer now! Super company & Brett was fantastic! Book with this company because they are so honest!! "John arrived on-time with his radon tech. Gave a thorough inspection and was very friendly and helpful. He wanted to ensure any questions I had as a potential buyer were answered about the home, and gave tips on general maintenance should I move forward with the purchase. He was very professional, and engaging. It made the multi-hour inspection useful and interesting. Would highly recommend. Especially considering the great price."

"Randy came out and inspected the property. He was extremely personable and professional. I am a first-time home-buyer and he exceeded my expectations when it came to educating me about the nuances of the house. The overall inspection took about 3.5 hours and he covered every nook and cranny of the 2300 sq. ft. home. There is one thing of which to be aware, certain roofs can only be inspected visually (through binoculars) due to a number of variables including height, pitch, and cost of inspector insurance. Finally, the inspection has a limited guarantee up to 90 days of the inspection for piece of mind. I would recommend HouseMasters to anyone in the future as they did an excellent job. As an addendum, Epcon Lane, the company used by HouseMasters to do pest inspections, was excellent. Pat came out and inspected the house in about an hour and answered every single one of my somewhat ridiculous questions (i.e. what is the best way to keep bees out?). He pointed out some very dificult to find areas of entry for insects and rodents and provided some strategies to remedy them. I was very impressed with his expertise and thoroughness. And I will use Epcon Lane in the future if the need arises."

"I had hired Homewise, when house hunting, to do two inspections. He did a wonderful job. Got out quick, on time, and sent me a great report. Probably also saved me from buying a house with a lot of hidden issues that could have turned into a nightmare down the road. <br /> Once we bought the house, he did a radon test with the inspection and advised to get mitigation. We talked to him about coming out and doing it last year. His replies weren't as responsive as with the inspections. I got busy and put it off until this past spring when I went looking to cross it off my list and called Homewise again. <br /> He seemed interested in the job at first, but when it came down to getting a date for him to come out and getting this done, he stopped responding. I ended up going with someone else who did a great job. <br /> Homewise is top notch for home inspections, but I think the radon business has become more of an after thought. <br /> If you get him to come out to do it though, I suspect you'll have a great experience. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Painesville, OH

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
