The nice guy I spoke to (can’t remember his name, probably the owner?) asked me a few questions: what model, did I try xyz, how old was it? Then he said it wasn’t a very tough job and I could purchase the same model and attach it myself to save on the labor. The pro was honest and helped me over the phone, despite not needing his services, which was very cool. On his rec, I went to the Depot, bought the same (Insinkerator badger 500) unit for $170ish. Not bad at all. And with a bit more YouTube perusal, a few basic tools and some elbow grease… wouldn’t you know it! Success! In about 90 minutes, I had a new working garbage disposal, a pretty good workout and peace of mind. Would definitely call again when I have a more challenging project.
