"All in Electric were extremely professional and knowledgeable for all the work that they performed in our home. We were extremely pleased with everything they did. After they upgrade the electrical panel, they also had to add grounding rods for our main water service into the house. They had the county BG&E inspector and both come out and said that All in Electric did an excellent job. And the project was done on time and within budget. They gave us an estimate and perform the work for the original estimate total that they had given us."

"John came in and hooked up the wires, added switches for the recessed lights in the kitchen. He even prewired for an island hood vent... another project of mine later down the road. He did the work quickly and cleaned up well. I would use them again for another electrical projects in the near future."

"Everything went great. The only reason I didn't give an A for quality is that they had to leave holes in my wall and ceiling tile to run the speaker wires. I did agree to this after it was explained how they would have to run the wires, but I haven't figured out how to fix the ceiling tile yet. So I would say it would be nice if that weren't the case and that it wasn't so destructive to do the work and/or it would be repaired as part of the service offered. I would still highly recommend."

"Mark & His son were very processional, diagnosed the issue with my outdoor GFCI outlet was incorrect wiring, and saved us from having to replace breakers that didn't need replacing. They were fast too, bout 30-40 mins and provided 2 extra screws to close my panel correctly. Thanks."

"The estimate and scheduling was a breeze with Todd. The crew arrived on time to install 8 recessed lights, in 2 rooms, as well as wire 3 ceiling fans in the bedrooms that did not have overhead lighting. They completed the job quickly and efficiently. There was no mess left (they put down plastic and vacuumed up anything that made it onto the floor) and they covered all holes they had to make. I will definitely use them for future electrical needs."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Pasadena, MD

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
