"We had a SUMP PUMP installed outside a basement door to stop water from coming in door. There were a few â  rockyâ  moments with the 1st installer (& the dispatcher) but the owner of this company.. Pete Westera... stands behind his work 100%. & fixed everything with a second installer to exceed our expectations."

"My kitchen faucet had no cold water coming out. One plumber came in and told me it's not worth repairing it. So I bought a new faucet and make an appointment with Brandon based on Angieslist deal. Brandon came to my house last week and found out the control valve was broken and he fixed it ($85). He also told us the faucet I bought was not a right one and offered to come back when I get another one. He came back again today and replace the faucet and install the soap dispenser ($99).
Each time he was on time, gave me an early notice. He's very professional, got the job done quickly and cleanly and willing to give us advice. Also the price is very resonable!

"Dan and his team were both efficient and knowledgeable. They installed a french drain sump pump and made repairs to our footings at our residence three years ago and not a drop of water since then! Thats why we recommended them for the work we recently did at our church. The crew installed a complete system with two sumps and pumps in two days! From start to finish they did an outstanding job at competitive prices using quality materials. The clean up was amazing as well! Except for the new concrete, you would never know all of the work that was involved! I highly recommend Dan and the Basement Guruâ s for all of your water infiltration/foundation needs!!! You wont be disappointed!!!"

"I am so happy with Dony's work. He was quick to come over for an estimate and quick as well to perform the job successfully. We were delighted to see that he was very knowledgeable, able to find a simple solution to a bad clog in our backyard drain that two other professional plumbers either failed to fix or were recommending to address with expensive, unnecessary repairs. Dony was professional, friendly, and very effective. He cleared a clogged drain in minutes! We recommend him strongly. Hire him with confidence; you will be in excellent hands."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Passyunk, PA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
