"I contacted Home Advisor on a Friday afternoon a few days before Xmas, looking for help assembling furniture that had arrived in boxes. I received a call within minutes from Ask Michael. A couple other similar local businesses contacted me, as well, but not as quickly. Nor did the other businesses say they could complete the task yet that day/evening as Ask Michael promised to do. Indeed, two young men from Ask Michael arrived roughly 2 hours after my initial request and adeptly assembled a couch and a queen size bed in less than 30 minutes. "The builders showed up as scheduled, although they did work odd hours most days. This, for us, was more a benefit as we both work and allowed us to address any questions we had with the builders and review progress before the crew left for the day. Everything dealing with the actual construction went very smoothly and the crew did try to leave the site clean every day, but this <em>was</em> a construction site, so there was generally some stuff they had to leave around. <br /> The only problem came up when it was time to do the roofing work on the addition. The original roofing crew (not the construction crew) never showed up and it took nearly three weeks before BenMar brought in another crew to finish the job. The original building crew was very careful to protect the addition with plastic sheeting to prevent leaks, but it wasn't the look we wanted and we were a bit anxious by the time the roofing crew finally got there. The day they did the job we arrived home to find all of their waste in our front yard and an opened half-pack of shingles still on the roof, with tar-paper tacks scattered all over the roof and deck. Other than that, they did an excellent job, and one call to BenMar and the construction crew was back on site, cleaning up the mess and checking the roofing work, so we were pretty pleased with the response to that, as well. BenMar did say that they had addressed the issue with the roofers, so that should not be an issue with anyone wanting work done. <strong>(This problem is the source of the "B" grades in punctuality and professionalism above.)</strong> <br /> All in all, we got just what we wanted, the building crew was very careful and courteous, the support and communications from BenMar were excellent, and we are now thoroughly enjoying our new addition. I will certainly hire them again if we need something else done in their line of work."

"We bought a 1920s house that needed a new kitchen. Mike gave us a very detailed estimate and recommended a kitchen designer to help me design the project. We decided to add a doorway through an exterior brick wall to create a doorway into the adjoining sunroom instead of removing the wall between the kitchen and formal dining room. This maintained the original character of the house while still giving some "flow" into the former sunroom. The walls and floors of both rooms were taken down to the studs and the new foam insulation was sprayed inside the walls of the sunroom. A new exterior door was installed out to the back porch, The entire kitchen and sunroom were sheet rocked and new tile floors installed to both rooms. The kitchen was wired, plumbed for gas and water and beautiful kitchen cabinets and granite installed. One thing Mike Von Behren is particularly good at is replacing/restoring the molding, baseboards and door frames to match the original millwork in the house. The finished kitchen/family room is a beautiful addition to this older home and we have enjoyed it very much. Working with Mike was a pleasure-communication was great and he is very detailed and has a great team. I would definitely recommend Von Behren for any home building/remodeling projects where quality, attention to detail and excellent communication are important concerns. <br />"
