"Hands down the BEST experience I have ever had with electricians in my entire life. I started using Mr. Electric two or three years ago and have highly recommended them to several neighbors who have had equally wonderful experiences. I have used them approximately 12 times on various projects throughout the past couple of years and already have several future projects in the works. Dan was sent out for my first project and I was so impressed and GRATEFUL for the work done and suggestions he made, I request him every single time. His work is impeccable, I have never once asked a question he didn't have the answer to and he is the ultimate example of a true professional. Today we upgraded a 200 amp panel to a 400 amp panel and the entire experience was flawless. He arrived right on time, had it done in the time he said it would take and the power is back on and working great. I never write reviews but in the case of Mr. Electric I absolutely had to because they are truly exceptional. I recommend them to anyone that needs electrical work, big or small projects, you will not be disappointed."

Small jobs welcome

"Bo did an excellent upgrading my panel in order to install a Generac whole home generator - which he also installed. I am very happy with the work he did and the fair price. Bo actually went above the "call of duty" on several issues. I would definitely recommend him."

"Highly recommend Down South Electrical Services! We found out the Saturday before the freeze last week that the breaker for our water pump wasnâ t working anymore. I couldnâ t find a replacement breaker so I got on Angiâ s List and requested quotes from electricians. I immediately (literally) got a call from Drake at 6:30 on a Saturday night. While talking to him I learned that our very, very old breaker panel was the leading cause of house fires. We couldnâ t find a replacement breaker because they arenâ t made anymore due to the fire hazard. He had me a quote Sunday and was out first thing Monday morning to replace my entire breaker panel. He was highly professional and left the closet the breaker panel is in cleaner than he found it. Today I had another small request. I called him at 4:55 PM on a Friday and he came straight over. Heâ ll be getting all of our business from here on out!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Pearlington, MS

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
