Several contractors came out and either felt that the job was too involved time-wise for them or started proposing numbers that were way beyond what we could afford. And then we met Sam from Progressive Renovations. He was affable and encouraging. The job was certainly doable he assured us, but conceded that there might be unexpected work due to the fact that the house was built in 1896. He was very reassuring about any additional costs and when we did, in fact run into several serious foundation issues, Sam and his brother Mel told us we could work everything out at a minimal additional cost. And they were not only true to their word but Sam completed a number of à  à ¢à  à  à  à  extrasà  à ¢à  à  à  à  to make the final result even more satisfying than we expected, Sam and his crack team of masons, carpenters, and painters were frustrated by many no-work rainy days we experienced, but they more than made up for lost days by working full days even on Saturdays. In fact they worked on two different Sundays all day. We certainly would call on them for future jobs. We recommend Progressive without reservations. "Bill was a pleasure to work with. I had some definite design ideas I wanted to happen with the new siding. I didn't want vinyl or any imitation wood, I wanted real wood. Some details like how the corner would be finishing had not been decided when we started but by the time he got to the first corner he had several suggestions, we ended up going with a clean 90 degree edge. The same with around the windows, I wasn't sure what to do around the windows and wasn't too keen on putting trim, wanted to keep a simpler clean look. Bill came up with a thin aluminum trim frame that keeps a simple line around windows. Bill also did an excellent job installing a diagonal pattern in the front peak, this requires a master carpenters skill to pull off!

"Miguel Amaya is not only an honest, fair and hard working person but he has integrity that is truly rare (and uplifting) in this day and age. I live in Westfield, NJ and had him redo my front walkway. Miguel went out of his way to make sure that I was satisfied with the finished product. He was forced to return because I was sold defective SEK Polysweep product by an unscrupulous vendor. Mr. Amaya redid the work by replacing the SEK product with the much better Gator Maxx polymeric sand. if you need hardscaping work done, hire Miguel Amaya, a decent, hard working, honest professional. STAY AWAY from Empire Building Supplies (see my review on them) and SEK Polysweep -- the product is garbage and the people who make/sell it know nothing about being good people who TRUTHFULLY care about fairness and/or their customer. Mr. Amaya would not accept my paying him a second time although he was forced do the job twice through no fault of his own. It was so unjust ** and yet so telling of the type of decent human being that Miguel Amaya is. Unlike the others I dealt with (at Empire and SEK), he was more interested in doing the right thing by me than he was about money. How rare. I was lucky to find such a good person and worker. I highly recommend him."

"The owner came out, walked around my house and inspected the roof . Gave me a written estimate ,told me exactly what he was going to do. They came out and turned out that I needed new plywood on half the roof. 40 new sheets. I was very upset. Eddie, the owner was very understanding and gave me a reasonable price below what the contract called for. They finished the work in one day. Cleaned up all the mess covered all the fascia boards, replaced all the rotten wood around the eaves. They did a great job. The roof and the house looks amazing. I'd recommend him to anybody"
