"I originally bought a new microwave at Home Depot. When the installers arrived at my house, they found that the space I had for the installation was 1 inch too short for the microwave I had purchased, so they said could not install the oven. I returned it (and as of today, am still waiting for my payment to be refunded, a week later). The problem is that the area behind my stove is tiled so the OTR microwave had to fit exactly into the space I have. When I explained that to the salesperson at Home Depot when I returned there to buy a replacement oven, he said he had never heard of tile being installed behind a range before. Huh?
After exhaustive internet research and consultation with friends to figure out how to get the right sized microwave, I knew I’d have to go to real professionals. I found Sterling Appliance here on Angie’s List, and they’re right down the road from where I live. When I walked into the store and told the salesman that I had to fit the oven into a very precise space, his first comment was “Oh, you must have tile behind your range.” Bingo, I knew I was in the right place. Not only was I able to buy a high quality GE microwave that was a and frac12; inch too big for my space (instead of the low quality Sharp oven which was the only make/model available in the exact size I needed), but Sterling also said they would do a custom-install, at no additional cost, using a shim to fit the oven into the space I had available for it. Double bingo.
The installation crew showed up exactly on time. The oven they brought with them was damaged; the door was broken. Back to the warehouse for a new one, and a couple of hours later, I had the new microwave installed above my range.
And for reference, what I found is that there is little variation from store to store on the price of the ovens themselves (yes, there’
some, but I found it to be a non-factor in deciding). What really varies from place to place are the installation costs. So for the benefit of other Angie's List aficionados, here’s what I found:
Home Depot: $80 installation fee
Lowes: $130 installation fee
Sears: $180 installation fee
And Sterling Appliance? $120 installation fee. Great deal, highly recommend this place!

"I had my appointment with Mr. Harmond W. on May 07, 2022. It was rather easy to set up appointments and the site makes it rather easy to reschedule (which I've had to do). Mr. Harmond W. was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I've read great reviews about his appointments on here. We pinpointed the problem by process of elimination. For my particular model (Whirlpool) he's seen the common water leak issue I was experiencing. Oftentimes, filter housings need to be replaced. Mr. Harmond W. just confirmed my observation and I am glad I may now rectify the issue. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Harmond W. sent me the exact part needed via email . One may shop around at different retailers to purchase the part. Neli also sells appliance OEM parts as well by partnering with other companies. I will be going with another retailer/seller since the price was much lower with a good return policy and a protection plan option as well. For $35, one can't beat that. A diagnostic evaluation alone may range from $150 and up. I was able to pinpoint the problem and order the part. I won't be arranging for an appointment to self-install. One has to know where to draw the line. I will hire someone once I have the part in hand. I already have someone in mind, also referred by Angi. Luckily, I didn't have to do any thing too cumbersome. I gained some handy tools at well. I really liked using the nutdriver vs a screwdriver. So I've added all the necessary tools I need for the appointment to my collection, and they will be handy in the future. Overall this was an optimal experience and I would certainly refer and use Neli in the future. If you are confident in unscrewing/re-screwing, and removing parts of your appliance, I'd say give it a try. NOTE: Also understand that this an all virtual service. An appliance repair professional doesn't not come to your home at no point in time. Neli offers self- diagnostic guidance to determine the issue with your appliances. Neli sends you the part number. You purchase it, and then may opt to make another appointment to install the part. If the task is too difficult, then you may opt to hire an appliance repair professional. It's up to you to decide. "Our technician, Leo, was on time, and quickly diagnosed the problem with the broken thermostat, and replaced it promptly. Per his recommendation, we are letting the entire unit remain off allowing the remaining ice buildup to melt before turning the unit back on tomorrow. Hopefully all will work as normal once we turn it on after 24hrs."

"Superb. Tested all 3 a/c systems and found/explained the problem on the one unit that needed replacing. Provided advive, options and a competitive quotation while onsite and scheduled appointment to suit us. Manjit was very punctual and kept us informed at all stages. We liked that he visited to fit as arranged but offered to revisit when it wasn't raining to avoid moisture entering the system. Always polite and particular. Cleaned up after himself and discovered another part that unexpectedly needed replacing during the fit that he swallowed the cost of. A very helpful no nonsense, no BS, and reliable firm. US Appliances are now in my go to firm for annual servicing."

"My furnace is very old and quit working.  I called several HVAC companies and received  quotes to replace ranging from $1,800 to $11,000.  I found Energy Wise on Angies and called Matt.  He returned my call within 30 minutes and was at my house within 24 hours.  After his inspection, he stated that the furnace was still in good shape and could offer me a  number of years service before buying a new unit.  He suggested replacing the motor and fan and cleaning internal parts.  All of this was completed by the end of the next day.
Matt is very professional, punctual, courteous and a pleasure to deal with.  Not only did he save me a great deal of money, I now have a heating/air conditioning system that has never worked better.

Appliance Repair Technicians maybe competent to repair other brands, but if you have an LG appliance, you are much better off going with their factory-authorized service.

My 6-year old LG front-loading washer was stopping mid-cycle and would not complete a load.  I called two other repair companies who said they did not service LG, so I thought myself lucky that Appliance Repair LLC said they would service it, and I made an appointment for Monday afternoon between 1 and 3 pm.  When the technician did not show or call by 3:30, I called the office and was told that he was detained on an earlier repair that had taken longer than expected, and he would not be able to come until the following day. Although I am retired and can stay home to wait on repairmen, this is still inexcusable in my book, as most customers must take off work for repairs.  The technician arrived on schedule the next day, and recommended replacing the  sensor assembly, at a cost of $280. I reminded him that the motor was making a groaning noise as it attempted to turn the drum, which suggested to me that the problem was with the motor, not the electronics.  He assured me that replacing the sensor would correct the problem. After he replaced the sensor, tested the washer without any load, and left, I attempted to do a load of laundry.  The same problems occurred, and I called the company back. They sent the technician out again two days later, who then confirmed that the motor was the cause of the problem. That would have been another $360 repair, so I elected to replace the machine instead. To their credit, Appliance Repair did refund the difference between the initial charge and the basic service call charge, so my final cost was $60.

While researching a new machine, I noticed that the motors on LG washers have very extensive warranties on their motors. When the Appliance Repair technician asked if the washer was under warranty, I replied that it was 6 years old. He did not suggest that anything might still be under warranty, but it turned out that the motor had a 7-year warranty. I called the LG service line, and was told I would be charged only for labor to install the new motor.  They dispatched a technician the next business day, who confirmed the motor was defective and also under warranty. He also pointed out that one of the three drum supports was broken.  These are shock absorbers that support the drum of a front-loading washer as it does its fancy turns. If one is broken, the drum is unbalanced and won?t turn properly, which was the cause of the burnt-out motor. He seemed surprised that the previous technician had not reported this, as it was clearly visible with the washer back open for service. He replaced the motor, broken support, and a third item he found, for $267, and the washer worked perfectly.

"Heather Pfeifer in the last week Our HVAC system went out after 13 years and I had five different companies come out to give me a bid. Tim put together a proposal that couldn't be beat. Not only was his bid 20%-30% lower than all of the other companies, but he spent a lot of time answering my questions (I had an entire page!), carefully going every option but NEVER pushing me to purchase anything we didn't need. Moreover, told us of a great financing deal that would start the following week through TRANE (0% for 60 months). Since we fully expected our downstairs unit to conk out in the next year or two (same age), we decided to bite the bullet and replace both units, including our furnace. Tim helped us put together a hybrid unit that will significantly reduce our reliance on propane , which is so costly. Ultimately, our new systems are expected to reduce our energy bills by 20-30%. To top everything off, Tim had his crew come in the day before installation to clean all our ducts for free, and included 2 years of free service of both systems. He was beyond generous, and he went above and beyond to make the entire experience pleasant. The installation team (Bill, Jay, Mark, Richard) arrived on time and were nothing but professional and courteous. They spent the entire day installing the units, and were extremely careful to keep things clean and orderly. They were all super friendly and great with our dog, who thought she just made three new friends. At the end of the installation, they went over both systems with me, reviewed all of the paperwork/contracts, and walked me through our new hi-tech thermostat. They never tried to rush me as I asked them more questions, even after being here all day. I am so happy that it'll be one of these guys who will come out to service the units twice a year. In sum, I can not give a higher rating for Pope's Air - every single part of the process was handled professionally and with utmost courtesy and consideration. THANK YOU!!!"
