"This was actually a 1365 SQ ft 1972 whole house remodel, plus a small addition. Daniel Parker with Stonebrook Construction Group promised a detailed project schedule: did not provide one. He billed us on a weekly basis, which drained our funding with falsified billing (billing based on estimates, not invoices). He has not paid off 2 subcontractors, even though we paid him 3 months ago, and of course has not provided lien waivers. He terminated our contract on 1/9, hours after we asked the subcontractors if they had been paid. Two wks later, nighttime temps dropped to -10 over a weekend and our expansion tank on the hot water heater froze and burst because he did not winterize and protect our house. The structural engineer and another contractor have written letters of the extensive repair work that needs to be done and does not pass inspection. Look at the photos and ask yourself if you want this to be your home after paying over 100% of what you signed a contract for."

"My wife and I hired Tyson to add a bedroom and bathroom in our unfinished basement. We had a pretty tight budget and Tyson was happy to coordinate with us on portions of the project that we could handle such as priming, painting, and light fixture installation in order to help keep costs down. His communication was always prompt and professional, the subcontractors he hired performed excellent work, and the entire project exceeded our expectations and gave us a wonderful living space for guests. Would definitely recommend Tyson for a project of any scope and would not hesitate for an instant to hire him again. Thank you, Tyson!"

Customers say: Quality work

"All I can say is WOW! We hired HWG to re-do our rather dingy, dark and unspectacular basement. Briana and crew were so very kind helping us reimagine our circumstance and make it a reality, an unimagined dream come true. Light, welcoming and now... maybe the showplace of our home? We'd feared having to deal with a lot of noise, dust and the like and what a great surprise! The crew was courteous, friendly, considerate and, guess what! They finished ahead of schedule and a little below budget. Along the way, I suppose like most people, we decided to make changes here and there. HWG took this all in stride and embraced our suggestions / preferences as work progressed. Delightful people. Incredible work and what a fantastic result! Thanks, Briana. Thanks to all the folks who transformed our basement. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Simply the very best. We just wish there were 10 stars to award. ð"

"I hired Paramount back in 2020 for work on the first floor and appreciated their work so much that I brought them back for the basement (fix/ update after mold repair) and second floor (bathroom and stairs update, new carpet). Like the first time, I really appreciated Ryan's suggestions on style and options, and the various contractors were professional and very kind about working around me and the cats. Ryan was ultimately more critical than me about details and appreciate that desire to do things right and as clean as possible. Would use again!... although that would require a new house at this point. 😁"

"Eddy was able to replace my old wooden fence and install the new fence. He even dug out my old fence posts! He did an amazing job completely replacing my fence. He also stacked my washer and dryer for me. He is a great guy"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Pierce, CO

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
