"Shay also looked at my existing deck and recommended a new deck be bult with Tresk planks . So glad I did! It is gorgeous and will probably outlive me! My neighbors are all jealous. The work his crew performed repairing my bamboo flooring inside was equally spectacular. I can't say enough good things about this company. Highly recommend them for remodeling or repair projects!!!!!"

"Rafael called immediately once I asked for a bid through Angi, he and Sara arrived early for the bid appointment, they anticipated all of my questions and concerns, and gave me a bid and timeline at that time. His team had the old deck out and new deck built in two days, all done the right way, and cleanup was perfect. They came back for the final walkthrough and I was, and am two weeks later, still 100% satisfied with their work. Rafael (and team) did what he said he would do. I am already recommending RT Total Lawn Care to people I know with projects."

"Chris is the kind of craftsman that is a rare find in today’s world. He has become our “go to guy” for all manner of home renovations and repairs, from painting to lighting installations to fence building. Chris is always on time, keeps to his promised schedule and takes pains to protect the work area. Chris’s work is impeccable. We already have two additional jobs lined up with Chris. We would not consider calling someone else when we have a project that needs to be done. Chris is also a gentleman we enjoy having in our home."

"Jeramie is an expert in the craft of laying tile. He make sure everything is shimmed to be perfectly parallel, perpendicular, and plum. He identified a leak problem around my bathtub die to grout cracking. He carefully chiseled out the grout that should not have been at the tub/wall, or the tub / floor junction, cleaned everything up and replaced with beautifully done caulking. He figured out why my tub seemed to be leaking water to one corner. It was not level. He saw that the glass doors were not parallel to the wall because the wall was not square. He found the tiling had been done on drywall not cement board and had swelled because of multiple cracks in the grout. He replaced the damaged dry board next to the tile, checked the plumbing to the tub and sealed it up again with meticulous plastering and smoothing, painting. He had to cut a new piece of tile from a 12 x 12, the only thing I had, to finish the job. Skylight water damage: he and Kevin removed a huge piece of drywall from the well of a 4 x 4 skylight that had leaked. It looks as though it never happened now. They worked with my family member who lived in the house navigating their complicated work schedules, would come at the time appointed, whether early or late, work very professionally, and respectfully. Jeramie presents his clear itemized work and cost plan, which is carefully written out day by day what would be done. This is a very professional worker who goes far beyond being a Tile expert. I will engage them now to repair my front porch in a 1905 house, because they are good carpenters as well. They know about plumbing issues and bathroom, remodels, and spontaneously agreed to take on cutting a hole in granite to place a Vessel sink in an unrelated, unlisted project.they work with care, stay as long as it takes to do the job right. Important lâ y, they listen to my ideas and suggestions. Well done. Elaine"

"After getting eight contractor quotes, we chose Anyvision Home Remodeling. They were not the highest quote or the lowest. We went with Anyvision Home Remodeling because of Chase and his presentation. Chase wasn't pushy, he took time to listen to what we wanted and let us know if something wouldn't work and why. It was a complete, down to the studs and joists remodel! In fact, there was water damage and they had to replace some of the joists. Chase recommended some stores to us to go look at tile, sinks, the tub and cabinets and met us to look at our choices. I ordered some things online, but sent them to Chase to make sure they would work before ordering. The guys Chase has to do the work, from demo to completion, were fantastic! They really did a great job. If I noticed anything I didn't care for or had questions about, all I had to do was mention it and it was taken care of immediately. Communication was constant though WhatsApp. Chase set up a group and our communications were all documents right there. We knew what time and who was coming out any given day. We shared photos and occasionally just chatted. The end result is a gorgeous master bathroom with a private toilet room, an oversized double vanity with LED mirrors, and a wet room with a soaking tub and double rain showers, both with hand held showers too. Oh, and one thing I really appreciated, was that Chase brought in a cleaning person, so our new space was gleaming and ready for us to use! Please take the time to look at our before and after shots!"

FAQs for deck or porch projects in Pinehurst, WA

To maximize your budget, compare quotes of several builders that fit within your specifications. Don’t be afraid to draw a wider geographic circle if the contractor is willing to travel without charging more. But affordability only matters if you get a quality deck out of it.

Cutting corners or simply finding the cheapest pro could result in significant problems. The materials used may be cheap and rot quickly. The support the surface provides might be unstable and dangerous. Always consider the long-term costs and benefits of quality work. Paying less upfront may actually be more expensive if you consider the cost of repairs.

Deciding on which materials you should use depends entirely on the type of deck you’re looking for. Composite works well for a simple surface exposed to harsh elements, while concrete is the standard choice for many patios. Your decking material options can range from wood to aluminum. Learn about the pros and cons of these materials to make the right decision.

You can build a deck during any season, which is why choosing the right time for this project depends on your preferences:

  • Spring: get your deck ready in time for landscaping and to enjoy it throughout the warmer seasons.

  • Summer: use spring for the planning process, then get the project ready before it gets cold out.

  • Fall: Limit turf or landscape damage by building once most plants begin to recede.

  • Winter: make the excavation process easier, thanks to cold and firm ground.

Many deck builders prefer winter, which is also the season with the shortest waiting queues. Still, other seasons are far from impossible for this type of project.

Expect a thorough examination of the space, and the development of a project schedule. Delivery of materials might already have occurred or could be planned at this point.

Additional research about working with deck builders can help you understand what to expect from experts, and what they expect from you.

Make sure the site of the deck or patio is clear of any landscaping and debris. The contractor will also call a utilities locator service to mark power, water, cable, and other services around the area where they will be digging. The cleaner the area your builder has to work with, the more quickly they can get started. Make sure they have space to park any construction vehicles. Find a dry space for materials that might need storage during the install. Finally, ensure clear access to the site through your house or property.

When it comes to the DIY vs. hire a pro decision for your deck, the answer tends to be clear. Only take it on yourself if you have significant expertise and experience. Without either, you risk building a faulty exterior space, leading to injury risks. Projects built without necessary expertise also break more quickly, making them more expensive in the long run.

If you do want to take on decking as a DIY project, be sure to do your research. Learn about installing the posts and footing for your framing. Understand how to lay decking boards and build the railings and stairs you need for access and security.
