Customers say: Quality work

"Excellent! The Streamline crew was on time, professional and very helpful! DTE called at the start of the job, after Streamline had already started working, and notified me that the connection to the house would have to be underground instead of at the top of the house as originally planned. The Streamline crew handled this in stride, didn't charge any extra for the change of plans, and still completed the work in one day!"

"Work looks good and was done in good time. My only gripe was they didn't tell me the LED's they were using had such a warm color, I prefer the color be 5000 or higher. It's a drop ceiling and they went out and got tiles that match well to the current ceiling and cut the new lights into them quite well."

"Very happy with my experience with Mr. Electric. I have used them to put in my whole house generator. They were great. Sam Stone is awesome. He showed up on time and upgraded our panel box. I found him to be very professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this company and Sam Stone for all electrical services"

"I highly recommend Jag Wire. From the very beginning, Casmere was great to work with and accommodated my schedule. He was professional, punctual, and did an excellent job installing six 4" LED wafer lights in my kitchen. Thank you again, Casmere!"

"Lenny was extremely responsive and knowledgable. Very easy to work with. Given a phone call and a few pictures, he completely understood what had to be done (better than I) and priced out the job. He replaced my 40-year old, fuse-based panel with a 100-amp circuit breaker panel, an interlock switch and inlet box for my portable generator. He also consolidated all the circuits from my two existing panels into a single panel. Work was neat and well done. Designed Electric finished the work in a single day. I only waited a week from time of estimate until the panel was installed, The price was outstanding (compared to other bids). Totally satisfied."

"Writer is a true professional and electrical guru. He arrived within the allotted time frame, got right to work and quickly identified the problem. He even welcomed me to watch him while he worked as he explained the intricacies of the electrical outlet (which was a GFCI multi-branched oulet, connected to other garage and bathroom outlets). It was clear he knew what he was doing. I would recommend him for any electrical problem or fresh installation, and plan to hire him in the future for other electrical projects I have around my house."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Pleasant Ridge, MI

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
