Customers say: True professional

"We found McCormick home builders through Angie’s list. They were not one of our original contacts, but they contacted us and came out to give us a quote. Matteo was extremely helpful, informative, honest, and gave us reasonable realistic prices, and did not try to inflate the prices or pressure us in anyway. We felt very comfortable with him immediately. We felt like he was a member of the family that we could just talk to and ask questions he was very personable. He gave us his contact number in case we had other questions and he was always available when we needed him for any type of questions or concerns. Mateo‘s team did a beautiful job. They were fast. They were efficient. They cleaned up beautifully. They did a wonderful job. They were very considerate of our time our needs and our neighbors. They were an absolute pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Matteo from McCormick home builders for any home building projects, and we will be calling him again in the future!"

"Eli from EcoStar Remodeling managed our ADU build and we couldn’t be more pleased. We always wanted a guest house for family and now it’s finally done. Eli stayed on top of every step, kept things moving, and explained the process in plain English. The crew did beautiful work and respected our space. The project stayed on budget and finished right on time. Highly recommend!"

"Wise Builders was recommended to us by friends whose neighbor had a kitchen remodeled with Nathan as project manager. I called Nathan and he came to our home to discuss a kitchen remodel the next day. We had some general ideas about what we wanted to do and Nathan gave suggestions. He had us pick out our new appliances first so we would have a better idea for colors in the kitchen. We then discussed also remodeling our bathrooms and creating a walk-in closet. We learned it would be more economical to do all the work at once rather than have them come back to do the bathrooms. We went online and selected several kitchens and bathrooms that we liked and told Nathan what we liked about them regarding design and colors. He brought in an architect since our ideas required moving walls. The architect created the plans, we approved the plans, then the city approved the plans and permits were issued. We went from a single sink to a double sink in our master bathroom. We added a shower in the downstairs bathroom. We added recessed lighting in every room in the house. We added three sun tunnels to dark areas in the upstairs. We added additional light switches in more convenient locations throughout the house. We replaced the old molding, baseboards and doors to something more modern. Next Nathan brought in a cabinet designer who did a brilliant job with the drawings for our new kitchen. All my requests were incorporated into the design. We went from having deep corner cupboards where I had to crawl into the cupboard to reach what was in the back to having pull out shelves and lazy susans. Nathan answered our questions and addressed our concerns. At one point, I changed my mind about a couple changes we discussed and Nathan said no problem, he wanted us to be happy. Once the permits were approved by the city, we did the shopping for tiles, slabs and plumbing. Since I had selected colors I liked, Nathan arranged to have tiles and countertops in my colors available to choose from. Nathan is good at design and was a big help in making the selections. On construction start day, a crew of about 8 men were waiting in front of our house a half hour before the time they said they would arrive. They had the demolition completed in about two days. Ever since then, the crew has worked diligently, even working overtime. The work looks very professional. We are so pleased with what has been completed so far. Nathan calls us regularly and gives us updates. When there have been any questions, we have had the opportunity to go over to the house and work with the crew to be sure things were done the way we wanted. The original estimate for the work was 3 to 3 1/2 months. We are now six weeks into the project and were just told today that work is ahead of schedule and we should be able to move back home in another five weeks. Add a photo Satellite"

"Just moved into our new home. We were looking for a house for a few months, all the nice houses we saw were completely out of our budget. At some point we started to look at a few fixers. Our house required a lot of work, literally everything. Kitchen, flooring, insulation, rewire, and more. Dor from A2Z was very efficient, detail oriented, and most important for us he know how to move everything very quickly which allowed us to move in in a reasonable time. Dor and his team Got the permits very quickly, they helped us to get all the materials as cabinets, tiles, and plumbing fixtures. Once the construction started the process was pretty smooth, we met them on site every week or a week and a half, they were dealing with most of the work and they made sure to ask us for our opinion for every design dilemma. We love the result! Thank you!"

"Ybarra Professional Builders did 2 big plumbing projects on my house and property. Not only did they install a brand-new main water line to replace the old leaking galvanized steel pipe, but they also re-piped my house's plumbing as it was also made from that same rusting out galvanized steel. I also had some other major work done by them at the same time (tree removal and sprinkler repair) but since Home Advisor asked for a specific type of project for this review, I will only review the plumbing projects. Vlad was the project manager for all of these projects. He coordinated all of the sub-contractors' work and got the projects done in a timely manner. There were none of the time issues that I had heard about with other contractors, such as waiting weeks between one phase of a project to get the next one started-after one phase was done, the next phase would begin with no more than a day or two in between. He was very pleasant and very patient with my many questions and concerns and kept me up-to-date with what was happening. The project that I most dreaded, the house plumbing re-piping, was not as bad as I thought it would be, to my great relief. All of the people who I dealt with at Ybarra were pleasant and professional, from the sub-contractors to the office staff. I think the quality of the work performed was very good. In the additional clean-up phase, the holes in the drywall where the plumbing had been re-piped were patched and painted, and the concrete where the driveway had to be cut to replace the main water line was re-poured. This portion of the project was available as an additional cost, but the workmanship was very good. I had heard and read many horror stories about dealing with contractors so working with this group was a pleasant surprise. Thank you, Vlad."

"Aviv at Goodfellas Construction was extremely helpful from the get go. He took my wife and I shopping to get exactly what we needed for our bathroom. My wife had very specific requirements for the sink and he was able to get all the necessary parts. We've done remodeling in the past and have ran into problems with jobs taking too long and contractors asking for more and more money. We did not run into any of those problems with Goodfellas and we were even able to get a contractor discount which made the remodeling a lot more affordable for us. Aviv was always available to call or text when we had questions and he always responded immediately. We had a great time working with him and his crew and now we have a beautiful brand new bathroom thanks to Goodfellas. "

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse building service projects in Pleasanton, CA

Most sheds larger than six feet by eight feet require a foundation to remain level and dry. A compact tool shed might get by without one, but anything heavier should sit on at least a 4-inch-thick stone-and-gravel pad that extends two feet past the walls. The gravel protects wood skids and promotes drainage. If you want maximum stability—and your budget allows—a poured concrete slab is the strongest option.

Your ideal shed size hinges on purpose. A common 10-by-12-foot kit gives you 120 square feet—plenty for lawn tools and bikes. Need just a spot for a mower and a few rakes? A compact 4-by-7-foot model should work. If you’re envisioning a workshop or hobby room, look at 12-by-16 feet or larger.

A good rule is to raise the shed floor four to six inches above the surrounding soil. That clearance encourages water to drain away instead of pooling beneath the structure. The simple step is especially important for wood floors and skids, helping deter rot, mold, and insect damage while extending the life of your new outbuilding.

Choose the route that fits your goals. Prefab sheds arrive in standard layouts and go up fast—perfect for basic storage on a tight timeline. Custom builds cost more and take longer, but let you add windows, wiring, plumbing, and unique finishes. Balance budget, features, and timeframe before deciding which type of shed is best for your needs.
