"I found John & Jerry on Angies List and found them easy to talk with about my project. The project was to remove about half of an over large driveway of asphalt, and to cut a trench for a drain line away from a problem area next to my house. John came out in a couple days and assessed the situation, gave me a quote on several options. I chose the least expensive option planning to do the detail work myself. Once I made the decision to hire them, they scheduled me in a few days, early in the season. They did the work in an afternoon and left things as I asked so I could finish the drain and backfill, level the site with topsoil and lay sod. I found that the price seemed a little high, until I saw other quotes. I would recommend them to anyone for this kind of work. They are flexible and helpful and pleasant guys."

"Due to weather they were unable to make the appointed date. They called and explained the delay and said they would be out on the coming Monday. The job was done on Monday and I am very happy. I was very impressed with the neatness and quality of the work. I will surely use The Asphalt Co. again and highly recommend them."

"Service was timely and they were able to do the work without needing me to be present to sign off on it etc. If you like a convenient option, I would go with Alpine Asphalt. We have had several major rainfalls since they patched my driveway along the foundation and I have not had one drop of water in the basement. I think they provided the best repair option for the situation and did not try to do unnecessary work to up-charge me. Reasonably priced."

"I did not know if my driveway could be seal coated or if I needed a total replacement so called Dave and asked him to give me an estimate. He came to my house and said he would be able to seal coat it but that I had to remove the self adhesive asphalt repair fabric that I had put down over the years. He scheduled the job for about 5 days later. I removed the fabric and discovered that I had a crack that was at least 3 inches wide. I called him on the phone and left a message as to what he would be confronted with when he came to seal coat my driveway. When he arrived to do my driveway, he informed me that he had brought a bag of 'cold mix' to fill that large crack. It did not take him very long to seal coat my driveway, even with filling the cracks, less than 45 minutes.."

"Excellent! I'd been getting a lot of flyers with discount coupons but decided to go with Scottie because of his experience and great ratings here. He was well worth the $20 more. He uses a great sealcoat product that filled in some very deep cracks and one neighbor thought I'd gotten a new driveway. He edged the grass around the driveway that allowed him to seal even the vertical depth of the asphalt; an added bonus that probably paid for his small premium price alone. Very precise and neat and very responsive too."

"There were 2 phases to the process four days apart. Day 1: removed existing driveway; repaired frost block at edge of garage floor; added class 5 base material and regraded. Day 2: paved with 3" compacted MN DOT 2360 MV4 asphalt. The two different crews arrived promptly at 7AM and were finished by 9AM. Both groups were highly professional, courteous, and meticulous in their respective jobs. Excellent results and reasonably priced."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Plymouth, MN

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
