"Pillar Paint and Remodel did a wonderful job on our bathroom remodel. We could not be happier. We also had them instal luxury vinyl flooring in our master bedroom, and it looks amazing! They were a pleasure to work with, and their attention to detail really made the finished project even better than we had imagined."

"They did a great job on our roof after Hurricane Ian. We've gone through multiple hurricanes since and have had no damages or missing shingles. Great people to work with, Buddy was amazing. "

"Keith and his company not only designed the perfect kitchen for us but provided the most professional and meticulous work that I have seen in a long time. They did 99% of the work while we were living in our home up north. There was never any problem with communication and when we arrived the kitchen was beautiful and immaculate. I would not hesitate to hire them. It was a wonderful ending to the nightmares of hurricane Ian."

"Tel Custom and Terry LaBarge did a great job for us. Worked hard everyday until the job as done. And a great job it was. Great communicator and cleaned up daily so that we could continue to live in the house while they were working. On time finish and beautiful work. Thank you Terry. "

"Bryan and his crew did an outstanding job remodeling our bathroom. Bryan was extremely responsive and kept us updated throughout the entire project. He is friendly, honest, and dependable, and his workmanship is clean, precise, and professional. We couldn?t be happier with the results and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality remodeling work. We will hire him again, in the near future. "

"Communication was horrible. Never available to meet with them when things were not going right. Project manager was an incompetent. Took 7+ months to complete a 125 sq. ft. project! Unreasonable! Hurricane doors backwards, came unprepared to mount medicine cabinets, didn't complete all finish work, had to come back to re-polish granite that is still not right. Cabinets are okay, solid MDF plywood, but not "solid" wood as promised. Had to ask them to come back to patch holes in walls. Never got the bathroom alcove shelves because that change never made it into the contract, etc. The workers were excellent. The project management was nonexistent. The complete indifference to getting the job done, and done right is the real problem. They are the kids of the general contractor who shows up at time of quote and then disappears. The kids have other jobs and don't seem to care about getting these jobs done. I thought they had their act together. I was really wrong."

"Job was done quickly maybe too quick. I have leaks in a few panels of my metal carport and a screen that was cut too short and the spline can't hold the screen closed. I begged to have the fixed with Ray and I have been ignored since April May"

FAQs for kitchen remodel projects in Port Charlotte, FL

Your galley kitchen needs adequate clearance around any island installation to maintain functionality. Most galley kitchens lack sufficient width for traditional islands, as these layouts prioritize efficiency in smaller spaces.

If your kitchen has an unusual width, consult with a kitchen designer who can evaluate your specific dimensions and recommend appropriate solutions. For narrower spaces, consider alternatives like rolling carts or narrow work tables that provide additional surface area without permanently restricting movement.

Kitchen remodels require six to 10 weeks for completion, though timelines vary based on project scope and material availability. Simple updates like cabinet refinishing and countertop replacement might finish within a few weeks, while comprehensive renovations involving structural changes often extend beyond two months.

Planning stages add approximately four weeks before construction begins. Maintaining clear communication with your contractor and ordering materials early helps prevent unnecessary delays.

Common errors include insufficient clearance between opposing countertops, inadequate lighting that creates shadowy work areas, and poor storage planning that leaves countertops cluttered. Some homeowners select oversized appliances that overwhelm the space or invest in expensive features that don't address fundamental workflow issues.

Careful planning, accurate measurements, and consultation with experienced professionals help avoid these pitfalls and ensure your renovation successfully addresses your kitchen's specific challenges.

Whether expansion makes sense depends on your home's layout, your budget, and your long-term plans. Combining a galley kitchen with neighboring spaces creates more open, flexible layouts that many buyers prefer. However, removing walls involves substantial costs, particularly if they contain plumbing, electrical systems, or structural elements.

Sometimes, optimizing your existing galley layout through better storage solutions and lighting proves more cost-effective than expansion. Consult with a contractor to evaluate specific costs for your situation.

Effective galley kitchen lighting combines multiple sources to eliminate shadows and create visual spaciousness. Overhead fixtures provide general illumination, while under-cabinet lighting illuminates work surfaces directly. Consider recessed ceiling fixtures that don't protrude into limited headspace.

Lighting with dimming capabilities allows adjustment for different activities. Reflective surfaces like glass tile backsplashes or glossy cabinet finishes help bounce light throughout the space, reducing the corridor effect common in galley layouts.
