"It was one of the best experiences dealing with a contractor for understanding our needs, choosing type of flooring, overcoming obstacles (subfloor irregularities in an old building, etc.). Scheduling was almost immediate and the job performed quickly with quality and care. Follow up on one small detail was completed with no hassle. Filipp was pleasant, knowledgeable and easy to work with as were the employees, Tony, Fredy and crew."

"They were awesome.  The installers were very efficient, courteous and did a fantastic job. I had Home Depot install flooring and carpeting at another piece of property in December and it was a very trying experience.  Will use 651 Carpet again.  Highly recommend!!

"I called the office phone, explained that I had a hole in the side of my house caused by water damage, they gave my phone number to Tom who called and scheduled a time to come out within a day or two. He arrived on time and had no qualms about climbing over debris from a dismantled deck that we had in the backyard. After evaluating the hole he said that he could do the work for us but that we could do it if we would like. He explained what he would do if making the repair himself and we decided that we could do the work. He said we didn't owe him anything and left. He was so pleasant and knowledgeable. He reassured us that this was a minor repair and that the integrity of the house would not be compromised especially now that we are removing the deck and will no longer have water accumulation against the house. He took time to talk to us about other jobs that Cady could help us with around the house. I was very impressed with Tom's professionalism and I hope to get the chance to work with him in the future."

"The job went wonderfully! Vitaly Chirnikh called me shortly after I bought the deal and was available to start the project quickly, but I needed to clear out the basement (merging two households and too much stuff to work around), do some wall painting, get some flooring installed and get base/casing/French door for the project. It took me most of the spring/summer to get that done.
I contacted Vitally in August and scheduled our project for the week of Sept. 17 - 24. I confirmed our project schedule with Vitaly the week before the start date and he showed up promptly on Monday, Sept. 17 to go over the contract, to review the project and to clarify specifics of the project. Vitaly was very professional and has pride in his workmanship.
Peter was the base/casing contractor that did the actual work; he arrived shortly after Vitaly. Peter spoke limited English, so Vitaly clarified with Peter the specifics of the project and Peter got to work. Both were very pleasant and polite.
Vitaly recommended that we take a look at the work each night and to call him if there were any issues so that they could be corrected before the job got too far along or if we needed to communicate something to Peter. He also warned me that it was going to be a bit of a dusty job.
Our basement is a walk-out, so we unlocked the basement door each morning and Peter just let himself in/out for the workday. Peter was efficient and except for nailgun/saw noises, we hardly knew he was here.
Peter installed casing on nine doors (two were 5-ft closet doors that he worked some "trim magic" to give the closet casing a really nice look) and two windows, installed base in a bathroom, a bedroom area, a large, irregular common area, and a 16 x 14 room, installed skirt boards in an "L" shaped stairway, which can be a challenge (Peter made some "transition pieces" in various areas where the skirt boards and base met. He also installed an interior pre-hung double French door and it was installed perfectly. He also installed an "L" shaped "box" made from two pieces of oak for the ugly cement block ledge by the patio door that needed to be hidden/made pretty for future carpet.

At the end of the week, Peter cleaned up the area as best he could before leaving on Friday. He put all scrap in the trash can as he worked and swept up the major sawdust and put it in the trash can, too, but it is a very dusty job and I expected to vacuum up/wipe down the fine sawdust after, which I did over the weekend. The basement looks great! We ran out of contractor time to do the caulking/nail hole filling, but that can be done later; the big stuff all got done, which was my goal for the week. All we need now is to fill nail holes, caulk, paint the base/casing and install carpet and the basement will be completely done.
I appreciated that Peter was very careful of our freshly painted walls. We had a lot of big stuff/furniture in our basement to work around and we pushed as much as we could to the middle and our intent was to move stuff around to the finished areas to open up other areas for Peter to work, but we didn't want to accidentally put stuff in Peter's way if he wasn't done in an area. Peter ended up moving some of the stuff himself, which we feel bad about as it wasn't our intent to make him deal with that aspect of the job.
Even though Peter's English was limited, communication was not a problem as he would either leave us a note (such as "need four feet of this" left on a piece of base) or he would call Vitaly, who would call me (for instance, Peter wanted to know which way we wanted the French doors to swing).
We are very happy with the quantity and quality of the work that got done and with Vitaly's professionalism and Peter's workmanship and work ethic.

"The work that the crew did was a total kitchen remodel. They started by tearing out the kitchen. The team was on time and did exactly what they said they were going to do. Once that was done the flooring went in. Once again absolutely on time staying right on schedule and doing a great job. The floor looked awesome. We didn’t like the color and were sure it was going to be a hassle to change it. We were wrong. Ben never hesitated with the change and the crew sanded it off and re stained it. Amazingly this did not throw them off their schedule. The next step was installing custom cabinets. This was our biggest worry as we have a small kitchen where every inch counts. Once again the crew came though with awesome work! The cabinets were the perfect color and design and fit exactly right. When they were done we just stared at the work it was better than we even thought it could be. Last was the backsplash. We picked something out at the store and when the guys went to pick it up the store said they were out of stock. No big deal we were able to go to a different store and pick something different and the guys just picked up without missing a beat. In the end everything went according to plan. Even now I scratched the floor doing something dumb and Ben offered to come out and take a look at it. And this is after we paid in full. We are going to work with them to build a rolling butcher block and see if they can help with a new garage and fence down the road.   The bottom line is these guys are great to work with from beginning to end. I would completely recommend their work to anyone who is interested in any type of home improvement."

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in Princeton, MN

Rental sanders can address moderate surface damage, but their effectiveness depends on scratch depth and overall floor condition. Drum sanders offer the most aggressive removal capability for deeper imperfections. However, if the damage extends into the wood structure or affects large portions of the floor, board replacement by an expert might be necessary before sanding. Consult a flooring professional for help.

Always thoroughly review the manufacturer's operating instructions before starting. Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator to prevent inhalation of dust. Inspect electrical components before each use to prevent shock hazards. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and maintain a clean space by frequently vacuuming dust accumulation to prevent slipping and to ensure you can see well.

Sandpaper requirements depend on floor size, condition, and the sanding approach. Plan to use multiple grit levels (coarse, medium, and fine) with at least one to two sheets per 100 square feet for each grit. Floors with significant damage or multiple finish layers will require more coarse-grit sheets. Purchase extra supplies before beginning because running out mid-project can cause visible inconsistencies in the final result.
