"The services went very well. Charles showed up the same day that I called him. He quickly determined what needed to be done and was able to perform the electrical services I needed. He was very polite, used a mask when he was in our place and also was a very polite, pleasant person. I thought his charges were very reasonable. I would highly recommend him."

"Keith Walter and his crew, Alan and Andy did an upgrade of electrical panel and installed a new sub panel, labeled the breakers by tracing the house lighting and outlets. They were efficient, knowledgeable and courteous. They explained the job to an 84 year old woman to help me understand what is happening to panels in a 50 year old house in Scripps Ranch."

"EXCELLENT. Roque and Michael (bus partner) are both extremely efficient, professional, articulate, present and ready and available to do whatever job you need. Roque scheduled as early as possible to ensure he had plenty of time to do the job well. Michael was the one that did the work I needed..found the issue immediately..replaced BUT they also took the time to diagnose the rest of my lines so if they do ever come back they have history on my electrical lines so they dont waste my time trying to re create the wheel of diagnosing and can get to deeper issues that could arise. Not that they will just saying the lines are behind walls so the simple fix was made for my issue but there is always a chance it could be behind the walls..so he prepared himsefl should I need them to come back to get to business. Very impressed. Easy to pay..they send you an electronic bill, pay by credit card. Definitely recommend. Before MJ I called numerous other electricans (found on yelp or google)..MJ was only one that didnt fill me with excuses, deflections and down right "creepy" where I would not hire the others due to didnt trust them. MJ was extremely professional and saved his name/number to be my electrican of choice for any futher needs on my home."

"I got a few estimates to get more power out to my studio. Everyone quoted me about 4K to upgrade my panel and get dedicated line out to my studion. These guys were to only ones that looked for a better/more economical solution. I sent a pic of my panel and he remembered that I upgraded my kitchen a while back but noticed that my electric stove had it's own dedicated line. He asked me, did you convert to gas when you remodeled? I said yes and he said, great, we take the line that was dedicated to the stove and we use that. It saved me $1500 and it worked perfectly. I would absolutely hire again!"

"High quality work installing a 50 Amp line for an induction cooktop. Great work at a great price. Scheduling was easy and efficient. The technicians were exactly on time. The drywall repairs were well done and not much more expensive."

"They had electricians available the same day and someone got to the house within 3-4 hours of my call. It was the replacement of a circuit breaker. I felt the price was reasonable (actual price was $75 less than the prepaid HomeAdvisor/Angi rate that supposedly included a 20% discount). I have no regrets and will definitely be contacting them in the future if I need an electrician."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Rancho Santa Fe, CA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
