"We met six different guys doing work for Rock Hard Concrete, and all six were great guys, dedicated and extremely hard workers. Whoever is doing their hiring should get a raise. Rock Hard Concrete showed up when they said they would and completed the job on schedule. In today's world of flaky contractors and crappy work, Rock Hard Concrete was a pleasant surprise. I won't use anyone else for future concrete projects. We couldn't be happier with our new driveway pad."

"A very impressive company. Daniel met us at our home within one day of our request for an estimate. He told us what the work would entail and answered all of our many questions. He was able to schedule the job within 10 days thereafter. He ALWAYS returned our phone calls before and during the job. We had met with two other paving companies and were unimpressed with both of them. Black Diamond crew and equipment arrived exactly when expected. Daniel texted us that morning to advise that he would be 10 minutes late. He arrived 10 minutes later. They prepped the existing driveway thoroughly and worked incessantly on two very hot days. Our driveway includes a basketball area, and a fork off to a pole barn. They had to remove several sections of the driveway that had deteriorated with age, then they built up those areas and lastly put down 1 1/2+ inches of asphalt over the entire 8,450 sq ft . It was a major undertaking and not inexpensive. We had never had to contract for asphalt paving before. It looks fantastic. It has enhanced our entire property."

"<br /> It went well. By contrast, we had <strong>another</strong> company seal our driveway 3 years ago. It was <strong> very</strong> poorly done, sloppy, and dissatisfying. I had been told by a friend to let her husband bid the job, and my mistake was to take his bid and not get other bids. <br /> I DO recommend that people get bids before agreeing to any project. This company, M.A.T.E.S Seal Smart, is recommended by us. <br /> <br /> We were hoping for a and quot;perfectand quot; job. We were a little disappointed that the finishing touches with the overlay could have been done better. And the tar? on the sides was soft for a long time and not uniformly applied. (could be more aesthetically appealing) <br /> <br /> We are happy, though, that the driveway drains well. <br /> <br /> Another positive is that we have had no tracking of asphalt into our home. <br /> <strong><br /> </strong>"

"For paving the driveway, they charged a little over $7200.  For having the road oiled, they charged a little over $480.  They did a good job, and they did get out in the front of the house and did a big separate special on top of it because my husband wanted his parking area where he parks his semi as oiled.  Our interaction with the workers was fine, and they were all very excellent.  We didn’t have any complaints.  Their price was pretty much what everybody’s cost was because we went through other people."

"Warmzone has been very responsive. However, the installers made mistakes installing the system and when they went to correct it, somehow caused damage that made the system inoperable. They had to come back a year later and redo it. Now it works pretty good. Every time I've had questions Warmzone has been very responsive. i would use them again--but use their recommended installers and not my contractors who did it last time. <br /> One caveat: The system doesn't always work perfectly in very cold weather with fast accumulating snow. We have old-fashioned clay brick pavers. Next time I'll send Warmzone a sample of the pavers so that they can test for the power needed to operate the system effectively. <br /> But--they sell a great product and they're very helpful to deal with. They'll get right on the phone with you and troubleshoot, even long after the sale. <br />"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Rathdrum, ID

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
