The project start date was a couple of months out, and they started right on schedule. Our home hadn't been painted in 15 years ago and was starting to look like it needed to be done again. My husband had used a sprayer and only put on a single coat at the time. When they pressure washed our house, quite a bit of loose paint came off, down to the bare wood. That meant that the primer paint layer that was needed was more extensive than they had planned. They did a great job making sure the bare wood was all primed, and then painted 2 coats of top quality paint. All the lines are crisp and so professional. We realized after they started that we also wanted to have the deck painted, and they were able to do that too, at a very good price. Stuart and his team met and greatly exceeded our expectations! "Hector came promptly to see what was needed to repair an overall bad job done two years earlier when a guy replaced our large deck with cable railing. Hector was clear and knowledgeable about what was amiss and how to fix it. Our deck was not tight or square. Hector listened to what we hoped could be improved, examined the situation himself and stated what he and his crew could do to get our deck back in good shape. We had his written quote within hours and then waited for other professionals to bid. Two different men came out and looked thoroughly at our deck and declined to bid. "These guys are stellar. My deck was in disrepair and I was uncertain what to do with it - whether to totally knock it down and start anew, or to build on the existing foundation. Also what material to use - composite, wood, etc. They came out, looked at my deck, gave recommendations, and worked within my budget. We went with cedar, and within two weeks, I had an absolutely beautiful new deck, built on the existing foundation. I was very pleased with the whole interaction - they were courteous and professional, friendly and hard-working, arriving early and working through the day to get the job done. It was for me an exceedingly good experience with a contractor, and their work is solid. I was nervous as a first time home owner to hire a contractor, for fear of not knowing enough and being taken. I had spoken with several other general contractors and also specific deck builders prior to hiring Modern Exteriors, and each could have built a deck. One larger company offered a lower price but when they came out, the materials they suggested would have been sub-par and the deck would have been plastic-looking. These guys are a smaller business that build decks for a living, and are very good at it and clearly enjoy each project - like works of art. I highly recommend them."
