"Excellent. Our home is in Olympia and Otto drove south to look at our project and provide a proposal. We have exotic wood floors that needed full sand down and small section needing repair. He researched the proper matching wood for the repair section and completed the project in three days, one day ahead of schedule. It looks fantastic! The cost was reasonable and the care they took to protect out home from dust and debris was impressive. We are selling this home and the wood floors now look very impressive. Should help us get top dollar in this market."

"Incredible repair and refinish work on old and nearly worn out floors that other contractors said was not possible. Great price and completed the work very quickly. Highly recommend!"

"We have a 1903 Victorian home. We hired James to remove 2 layers of linoleum and restore the original fir floor in the Kitchen . James was polite, punctual, professional. Very knowledgeable with old wood floors - he explained the process to us - his bid was very reasonable and he was clear about what the additional costs would be when he saw repairs were needed . He was meticulous about keeping the area clean and the rest of the house free from the dust. We will definitely contact him again when we need more floor work done and highly recommend him !"

Customers say: Quick response

"I hired Timberland to refinish my floors + install new hardwood floors. They did a great job, removing numerous stains from previous pets + irregularities from water damage. They also did a great job communicating, cleaning up after, etc. I would recommend them to anyone and appreciate their great work! (And my new floors!)"

"Rick and Candice were a pleasure to work with, they were professional, prompt, and did a fantastic job. My floors were in pretty rough shape and my tile flooring installer said it was a little beyond his capabilities. He referred me to Sterling and said they were the best around the Kitsap Washington area. I called them and received a quote which I thought was very reasonable for the work that needed to be done. Rick performed wood patching and matching to my existing floors. He then took everything down to bare wood, refinished and varnished the entire floor. The end result was amazing and I was very happy. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing hardwood flooring services."

"Eric visited my home twice to measure and discuss scope. I asked 3 companies to bid on the work, and Pacwest was the middle quote. Pacwest is a highly regarded local company and I was very happy that it made sense to patronize a local firm. We tried to match our new wood flooring to other wood flooring installed 5 years ago, and we needed to level up the flooring which was a little tricky. Vadeem and crew did beautiful work - we are 100% pleased with the job."

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in Renton, WA

Rental sanders can address moderate surface damage, but their effectiveness depends on scratch depth and overall floor condition. Drum sanders offer the most aggressive removal capability for deeper imperfections. However, if the damage extends into the wood structure or affects large portions of the floor, board replacement by an expert might be necessary before sanding. Consult a flooring professional for help.

Always thoroughly review the manufacturer's operating instructions before starting. Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator to prevent inhalation of dust. Inspect electrical components before each use to prevent shock hazards. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and maintain a clean space by frequently vacuuming dust accumulation to prevent slipping and to ensure you can see well.

Sandpaper requirements depend on floor size, condition, and the sanding approach. Plan to use multiple grit levels (coarse, medium, and fine) with at least one to two sheets per 100 square feet for each grit. Floors with significant damage or multiple finish layers will require more coarse-grit sheets. Purchase extra supplies before beginning because running out mid-project can cause visible inconsistencies in the final result.
