"Jeff and his team were timely in each step of the process. Jeff listened to us and had a clear understanding on what results we wanted and he delivered. Other than the new look, the work area and yard looked undisturbed when finished. Nice job. His crew were professional, courteous and hard workers. I highly recommend About Brick and Concrete."

"Josh and the team did a really big job for us last week. They encapsulated our large crawl space, treated wood for mold, installed a sump pump, filled multiple cracks in our foundation, added two drainage systems to the exterior of our house and even cleared out the original drainage pipes in our retaining wall. It was a lot of work and I couldn't be happier that we decided to go with General Waterproofing. We had several quotes from other companies, some much more expensive, but Josh was the only one that actually discovered WHY we had water in our crawlspace and created a plan to tackle that problem. Going with the company that wasn't just putting a bandaid on the situation and was reasonably priced was no-brainer. Also, a number of the other companies were really aggressive and fear-mongered- I did not get that feeling from General Waterproofing at all. They were very upfront about the issues and did not try to upsell me on unnecessary systems or upgrades. The crew was polite"

"One of the best things about this company is itâ s owner, Jeremy. He is tireless, able to respond to changes in plans or scope of the job, and â never gets belligerent or irritated with his customer or crew. Most importantly, heâ s is honest, honest, honest.....even to his own detriment, if necessary. He may not always have an immediate answer, but within hours he will figure out how to get the job done....& on time! We appreciate the fairly large job he did for us, we plan to use him again in the future, & recommend him to you for you concrete or other home or farm projects."

"I had an addition (bump out) initiated. I wanted to increase the size of my bathroom and my closet. The contractor did not finish the job. That was my choice. After a few incidents, I lost trust. In hindsight, I should have backed out when his truck was stuck in my yard with gravel that was not used. It was raining and his truck was weighed down with rocks. A towing service removed him after a couple of hours of digging out my yard with his tires. His friends brought their trucks and winches to help. He messed up parts of my yard and my neighbors yards. Gravel is still in my backyard. If you want good communication, consider someone else. If you want shirtless guys and a dog on your property that poops, consider them. If you want the dog to come again after you told him you did not like them, choose him. If you want to find broken items through discovery learning, this is your team. If you want a crew that will use your tools without asking, hire them. If you want to loan tools, hire them. If you want to clean up behind a crew everyday inside and outside your home, choose them. If you want to be involved with personality disputes, pick them. I asked them about sealing my home, before a storm. I was told I was good three times. Each time there was extensive damage. 22k estimate for interior damage. 12k for drying and demolition. Over a month of being displaced from my home?.. the 13k does not account for lodging. Now, I will need to be displaced again for more repairs. I had to have someone compete the exterior work. My decision. More plumbing needs to be completed to properly vent from the roof. I had to have someone install a vent for the bathroom and extend the duct. My circuit breakers popped for multiple days because the electrical wiring was spliced and pushed into a conduit box in the ceiling. I had damage to the flooring on all three levels. Walls and ceilings have to be replaced throughout my home due to water damage. The lighting and the vanity mirrors were completed by someone else. The flooring in the addition was completed by someone else. The fascia and the gutters were completed by someone else. If you chose this contractor, be very engaged. Question everything. Give guidance on pets and dress codes. Do not trust timelines. Anticipate friction if he hires his buddies. If damage is done, do not allow his friends to access the damage. They will not give an honest opinion. His associate assessed my house after the water damage. They told me to let it dry out its own and they would paint over the water marks. Servpro stated I would have mold and more damage if I did not remove the walls, the flooring, and the ceilings. I had driers and dehumidifiers in my house for over a week. Water was coming out of my light switches and my electrical outlets. Water was poring from the ceiling. To his credit, he came out shortly afterwards and left wet rags and buckets. I had to clean it. The addition is almost complete. I still have to fix the vanity, that cracked mirror, snd the damaged walls. That is in addition to the other stuff. They cracked my fan in half. I am sure I will find more. I am glad things are being fixed but I do not know if it was worth it. All the electronics in the master bedroom had caked up residue from the mud and dust. They did not seal or protect anything outside of the first couple of days of work. Initially, they had plastic in my master bedroom. The plastic fell and I put up tarps because they did not fix it. At times, the doors for the closet and the bedroom were removed allowing for a direct opening to everything outside. My bedroom room was horrible every night. I cleaned every night. They left water stains from their drinks on my dressers and cabinets."

FAQs for concrete foundation installation projects in Rockport, KY

A concrete footer is a relatively shallow column of concrete that sits below your foundation walls. Footers spread wider than the foundation, so they can support a higher amount of weight in critical spots, such as below walls. The exact dimensions of footers depend on the home, so larger structures need a larger footing.

To calculate footing size, you need to know the minimum width and depth for houses in your region. Multiplying the width by the linear footprint of the structure will give you the size in linear feet.

To convert linear feet into square feet, you can divide the width by 12. For example, an 18-inch footer is 1.5 square feet per linear foot. Multiply this number by the total in linear feet to get the answer in square feet.

Installing a pier and beam foundation costs $5 per square foot, or $8,000 to $15,000. This style is standard in homes built before the 1960s or those in flood-prone areas.

Concrete weight support ranges from 1,500 to 6,500 pounds per square inch, and footings need at least 3,500 to 4,500 pounds per square inch. Remember that your soil type, climate, and materials used will significantly affect how much weight your footings can hold, especially in certain areas.

It costs between $1,600 and $3,200 to pour a 20-by-20-foot concrete slab. These estimates are based on an average cost to pour a concrete slab of $4 to $8 per square foot. Be sure to discuss the specifics with a pro—they’ll give you an estimate of how much you can expect.

The cost to raise a house is between $3,200 and $10,000. This range refers to a form of repair that involves lifting the entire house to potentially remove the old foundation and build a new one or add to an existing one.
