"I will call this “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly review” as I am breaking this review into the 3 teams that we had – 2 very good and done quickly and 1 inferior with the most time spent at our house – thus the overall 3 star grade. The Good • Roofing Team – Grade: A. Efficient, good job, found virtually no nails or roofing materials on the ground • Gutters – Grade: A. One man crew but he knew what he was doing and provided good suggestions for modifying our water flow. The Bad • Siding & Window Team – Grade: C to D. Not sure how they were trained but they didn’t seem to understand some common construction basics. A few of the many examples – o They nailed the siding on wrong and had to start over. o They almost ripped the 120V electrical outlet off the house without turning off the breaker but it was the weekend and we happened to be in the garden and saw them. o Installed the dryer vent wrong twice – once painting it shut and the next time putting on a vent with a label on it saying “not for use with clothes dryers” due to the pre-installed screen. The Ugly • Siding & Window Team – Used caulk as touch up paint on LP Smartside (or just used the siding to clean off their dirty fingers?) – leaving random “chicken pox marks” all over new siding. Garage, driveway and all 4 sides of our house were filled with equipment and garbage for the length of the project. Not the crew to have if you have children or pets – they left old saw blades and other sharp objects around the garage entrance and the house. I didn’t expect a spotless home every night but I didn’t expect to be living with this much disarray with minimal clean up each night, even after asking the supervisor to improve pickup of at least garbage and sharp objects in the garage and the common walking paths. Nor did we expect to be spending our fall cleaning caulk off the “maintenance free” siding and re-painting it and installing our outside boxes correctly. I will give the owner credit for realizing that his siding and window crew did inferior work and giving us a discount on our bill. None-the-less, I am rating the services provided based on the quality of the work done."

Chris got the job scheduled quickly, replaced the roof and came back a week later to fix the siding issues. Everything went smooth and the work was great."

"The entire roof was done in one day. I was satisfied with the workmanship. Except for the flashing around the chimney - which was subsequently redone w/o any hassle. The gutter covers (LEAFPROOF brand) were installed after the roof. I was concerned that they may not handle a large amount of rain, but we had a torrential downpour shortly after and they worked great! I should have had these installed years ago - no more cleaning out the gutters. Our neighbors also had LEAFPROOF installed (also by Lakewoods) about 10 yrs ago and have never had a problem or needed the gutters cleaned out. Roof: $10,000 Leafproof gutter covers: $3400"

"This is the second time we hired J & B Roofing to work on our house. We had 35 year old deteriorated Masonite lap siding. The old siding was removed, a layer of insulation was installed, along with Tyvek House Wrap under the new siding. J & B Roofing supplied many color samples for us to select from. Our house has brick on the lower 1/3 of the front. We had J & B Roofing install vinyl siding that has the appearance of hand split shakes above the bricks to the soffit. We installed vinyl dutch lap siding on the sides and back of the house. The gable ends of the house & garage had the dutch lap installed at the same angle as the roof line. Ever challenge we presented to J & B Roofing was met with the response, "WE CAN DO IT". When the job was completed, once again the entire area was cleaned up of all debris. Whenever we need any repairs, they will be our first call to see if what we need done, they are able to do. We are very satisfied with them and highly recommend their services."

"Nick's Chimney Service came out on one of the coldest days of the year to replace the cap. I was worried about animals and weather. They were quick to respond, quick to come out to the house (2 days), totally reasonably priced, really nice and clear on the phone, and the work was excellent. "Overall the experience was good.  It was a really busy time in NE Minneapolis with recent hail storms causing many people to need work done.  All American Exteriors LLC was able to guarantee getting the work done in the time frame that I had available, and came in at the best price.  I had confirmed lead paint on the exterior of my house, and rather than doing lead mitigation ($20k+), I opted to have my house securely wrapped to seal in the lead paint, with new Vinyl Siding on top.  After getting the quote we found that we would be able to afford getting new Soffit and Facia, as well as the replacement of one window.  After a couple of reschedules due to rain, the crew showed up and got to work.  I was extremely surprised by the amount they got done in just the first day.  They were unable to come the next day due to a vehicle issue (van got stuck in Wisconsin with a bad alternator) - but they were able to make it the next day and get back to work.  It took approximately a week to get all of the work completed - the Owner and his crew were very courteous and willing to address any concerns I had.  They cleaned up after themselves very well (I only found a couple of little things laying around after they left).  After paying for the work they did, they were still very responsive when I found a couple of minor issues that I wanted addressed and were out to get them fixed within a couple of days.
The only real issues I had with the service are the following:
1.  The window install - it took a while to complete, due to an emergency for the contractor.  I was not informed of when he would be back to finish the job and had to call to ensure it would be completed.  Additionally, there was no finishing work done on the inside (silicone/caulk around the edges of the window) - was able to complete myself with little effort.
2.  The dumpster was left at my residence for quite a few days past the job being completed.  Not a huge issue as it was placed out of the way in an unused driveway - however someone had opted to throw a bunch of smelly garbage in it so we had to deal with that.  Not necessarily All American Exteriors fault as they dumpsters are contracted out to a different company.
Would I recommend All American Exteriors to a friend?  Yes.  Would I use All American Exteriors again myself?  Yes.
I have dealt with a number of contractors in the past for various work around my home (Landscaping, retaining wall, roofing, plumbing, siding) and All American Exteriors right up at the top of the list.
