"Matt was honest and knows everything about Radon. I had him come out and test our home and he let me know it was not needed to put the system in, I asked him to do it anyway for piece of mind. Never once pressured me and assured me my home was safe. Responds quickly and answers every question I had. HIGHLY recommend Matt"

"I would recommend All Ohio Radon to anyone who believes they have a radon issue in their house!  Wayne Porter explained what radon is and how his system would remove the gas from my house.  He explained in detail the two different types of systems he could install depending on how my basement was situated. Wayne was extremely easy to work with and took the time to answer all my questions.  Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to reschedule my first scheduled installation visit in December and due to unacceptable weather conditions was not able to have the installation until the end of January. But Wayne checked in with me on a regular basis when the weather conditions started to improve to see if I was available for installation. The entire process was painless and the two gentlemen that installed the system were friendly, professional and answered any questions I had. Clean up was pristine and they used tarps on my kitchen floor and basement stairs to mitigate any dirt being tracked through the house.  All Ohio Radon is one of the most professional companies I've ever dealt with!

"Overall, my experience was very positive. This supplier was recommended by my Realtor, and had received good ratings from Angie's List subscribers. My call was answered by a live person, who was able to schedule my inspection on the day I requested (which was within three business days). She was able to get the radon tester setup prior to the inspection, so the inspector would have the results the day of the inspection. Also, she was able to schedule a pest inspection with another supplier for the same day. I was offered a 10% discount as an Angie's List member. The inspector was on time for the appointment, which was important since we had a limited time to perform the inspection. He allowed me to accompany him the entire time, and was careful to point out and explain all his concerns in terms I could understand. He was extremely observant and thorough. He even took the time to correct minor deficiencies that could be quickly remedied."

"We contacted the Home Detective on a Friday and were scheduled for the inspections the following Tuesday. We appreciated that the pricing was posted on Angie's List. When I arrived at the house, Mike had already begun taking notes and inspecting the exterior. He was friendly and emphasized his willingness to answer questions as we reviewed the property. Shortly after, Josh arrived to set up the radon test equipment. The radon test procedure was explained to me, as Mike continue the exterior examination. From that point, I followed Mike throughout the exterior and interior of the house and garage. I received a good explanation of both positive and negative findings, as well as answers to the many questions I asked along the way. The full inspection took approximately 2.5 hours. At the end of the inspection, Mike reviewed the items of concern that he felt were the most significant, which was very helpful. I received my written inspection report and pest report within 24 hours via email. For unknown reasons, the seller of the house did not turn the water on prior to the inspection. Mike offered to pick up the radon test equipment a few days later and do an additional inspection of the plumbing system at that time. Frustratingly, the water had still not been turned on at that later date. Considering this an area of concern, we pushed to have the water turned on by the seller and asked the Home Detective for the pricing for an additional trip to inspect the plumbing. Exceeding our expectations, Mike came to the house again a week later (no separate charge) and did a thorough examination of the plumbing system with me. We received an updated version of the inspection report that evening. Having had a number of home inspections over the years, the Home Detective met or exceeded our expectations. The inspection itself was a comfortable and informative experience, and the information we received was valuable in understanding what we were getting into with a new property."

"Everything went well. We will definitely hire this company again if their services are needed again. I was glad that our home was finally tested for radon and also happy that i made the right choice to hire this company through Angie's List and got the discounted rate.

"Steve arrived a few minutes early, talked about what he would and would not be looking at, basically he looked at anything he could inspect without completely taking things apart (he did take access panels off, just advised that he wouldn't be breaking into walls). He didn't mind that I walked through with him and asked questions. He was very thorough and found a few things that while not deal-breakers, where things I definitely wanted resolved by the seller. He was professional and courteous and obviously has a good deal of experience. His report was thorough and quick, he gave me a hand written copy upon completion, e-mailed typed copy later that night (to me and my Realtor).
Since the Radon test requires 48 hours, I didn't get that the same day, but he emailed the results shortly after he picked up the test device and got them himself. He also left a contact card and notes explaining the Radon test to the seller near the unit in the basement, as well as on the dining room table and on each door leading out of the house.
I would definitely use him again!

"The installers arrived right at the scheduled time. They were very good about removing shoes, cleaning up after themselves, and explaining everything they did. The entire installation of a sump pump sealed cap, 4and quot; vent with an air pump, and the vent hose only took about 2 hours. They left a radon test to verify the mitigation worked, and called to schedule pickup a few days later. Overall, I liked that this company has been in business in the area for a while, is licensed, and has a very good warranty that they will perform additional services if the house tests high for radon in the future without charge.

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Rocky River, OH

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
