"It went very well. Professional electricians. I have employed Blazer for several years for electrical work at my daughter's and at my home. My home (Chicago Bungalow) is about 100 years old, and they know how to navigate around old wiring and obstacles."

"I'm glad we hired A and Z. Barry Goldstein gave us a call and come to our residence to look at the work needed. Barry is a great and sincere person and we enjoy the small talk but got to business. We were in need of GFCI electric switches in the kitchen, bathroom, and other areas. Plus, we need new electrical outlets in our closets in both bedrooms and have the pulley taken out, and ad a fixture on the outside of the closet. We also had a hazard with the powerline where the clamps that are attached to the outside wall of the house were hanging out. Plus the kitchen exhaust fan and the ceiling fan needed to be installed and they did. The crew explained what is expected in the process and the price. They placed it back to her tight in order for us to get COMED to fix the wiring. They came and fixed the job and did it cleanly and professionally. The crew was great to talk to and we felt they value customer service no matter what the job. We like their overall work and are responsive. I recommend A to Z for anyone looking for small to big jobs. Great job they did."

"Daniel addressed a not so straightforward switch replacement that I had botched. Not only did have to install it right but also had to diagnose and replace the circuit breaker in the panel. He also had to further diagnose a wire that had been melted and address that as well. He showed great problem solving skills, cleaned up and was extremely professional and friendly. Even though the job took much longer than expected, he still only charged what he had initially stated. Would hire again."

"Cris Electric is awesome. Proficient, knowledgeable and efficient. I learned so much in a short time about my home electrical wiring. I thought about the headache trying to understand why my circuit had not tripped but lights were inoperable in some parts of the house. By process of elimination Cris Electric found the source of my electrical problem. I am forever thankful to him for his professionalism and expertise."

"Main Service breaker kept tripping on my parents rental building. True Power called me, coordinated with True Power thru the day via text messaging as I was at work, TP arrived, and fixed the problem by tightening loose bolts.etc leading to the main panel breaker. A previous contractor stated the main power service needed to be increased in the building and that it would cost $10k-$15k to do all this work. True Power resolved the issue in 20 mins and have not had the main breaker trip since. Thanks for the friendly, professional, efficient and competent service."

"We needed to have our electric upgraded from 70 to 400amp. It was long overdue. They met me at 7am for a quote on a weekend. The guy was very thorough in his assessment of what needed to be done. They couldn't have done a better job. Everything was spotless when they finished. The communication throughout the process was great. We will be using them again very soon. Highly recommended."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Rogers-park, IL

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
