"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"This went very well. I received the company name from our realtor. They called back the same day, within hours. We were set up for the following week as they were booked til then. He showed up 3 minutes late....but that is nothing. He got started immediately. I had to leave before he was done because I had no idea he would take as long as he did...but I'm so thankful he did as the house was built in 1937 and you never know what you may find."

"My husband and I are in the process of purchasing a home and Jason just did the inspection for us. He went above and beyond fitting us in schedule-wise to meet the requirements of our buy/sell agreement and then did a great job of walking us through his findings. He was thorough and detailed. He even added a service on the spot when we realized we wanted him to make sure the radon mitigation system was working properly. Saying yes meant he would need to go back to the home on a Sunday. (Thank you for that, Jason!! We really appreciate it.) We highly recommend Jason if you need a home inspection."

"The owner, Bob Engibous, and his staff performed an assessment, explained the work that they'd do, provided an estimate, and were prompt and efficient in their repairs. They provided high quality repairs to the house especially on short notice. They were pleasant to deal with, responsive to questions, and worked nontraditional hours to get the job done. The only possible area of improvement were that they were a few hours late on the day to start work but they did provide notification to that effect."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Ronan, MT

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
