"I can't praise Jeff and his team enough. They were all professional throughout; the pre-work assessment was conducted promptly; the work team was courteous and efficient and the work was very well done. They replaced the front steps to our building and relaid the stones around it -- not a large job, but one that we really wanted done right so it wouldn't be a concern for a long, long time. Initially, I was able to reach Jeff easily. He came for the evaluation within two days and completed it quickly, along with some helpful suggestions about related matters. What he gave me was a *quote*, not an "estimate", meaning that was what the price would be. Moreover, he followed up one day after that with a contract for me to evaluate. (This sounds simple, but even at that level, not all contractors do this: one said he would come but didn't after promising "next week" three times; another came and examined things but I never heard back from him.) The contract itself was fine, and accurately reflected our discussion. When the time came for the work, the team was courteous, skillful, and efficient. They were helpful when questions came up, such as when the scope of the work had to be extended somewhat (because the codes had changed since the steps were first built). We also worked out an improvement to the drainage of the area before they started, which was effective and turned out to be very important. The extra cost of the change order was quite reasonable. The overall cost was also very reasonable. Another contractor had given an estimate of 30,000 for the entire job while Jeff's quote was 15,300. With the additional work (plus permits from the city of Cambridge, which had not been expected), it came to about 20,000. I considered that perfectly reasonable. Overall, our association, and I myself, were very, very satisfied with the entire experience. I will certainly call on Jeff and Masonworks again the next time we have any work to be done. I can recommend them without qualification and would give a reference to anyone who wanted one. P.S. The work was done in August, 2018. As of December 2019, there's been no hint of any problem with it."

"Wayne was very professional from start to end and communication was excellent throughout the process. I had recently moved in and the stairs to our backyard was in terrible condition. From doing just a regular basic small deck, we quickly started to exchange ideas to do something bigger. I wanted a deck that would be weatherproof underneath so I could use the area under to either store stuffs or even dine in case of rain. Once the deck was done, I quickly realized that my head was close to the ceiling when I was standing under. He suggested that we dig a few feet lower to give me head space. We were able to add recessed lights and it looks so nice! Finally, he suggested that a pergola would be nicer then an awning. Indeed, we can use the pergola even during rain and windy days and at night by close the shades to prevent mosquitoes. He helped me with the installation of the pergola also which wasn't easy.
