"Very professional. Chase is both laid back enough to feel like you've known him for years and professional enough to give realistic explanations of every aspect of installing/replacing a fence - including cost analysis, payment schedule and above all, accurate time frames for each stage of the job. Its a shame I only have one fence, because I would absolutely have him and his crew come back out again."

"Thank You Deck Cetera. Both the fence installation and front porch addition were done professionally and quickly even though Mother Nature did not cooperate all the time. The price quoted was fair and reasonable compared to other quotes we received but the quality and type of both the porch and fence was definitely above par by comparison. We truly enjoy our new privacy but the new porch you built put the entire job over the top, it has changed the entire front of our house. Both jobs have received nothing but rave reviews from our neighbors, friends and family. The installation team was always friendly and courteous. We would like to thank Colin for putting out the extra effort to ensure we were completely satisfied and to especially note Petes work on the porch. Again Thank You."

"We did a lot of research with other contractors before we went with EA Roofing and Siding. These were larger operations and they spent a LOT of time marketing all the benefits of their products and differentiating themselves from the competition before they would even give you a hint at their pricing. Once they revealed their pricing (in a follow up session), they wanted to you make a commitment (i.e. sign a contract) on the spot. Hopefully this review will save you a lot of time listening to all the sales talks and help you avoid a high pressure sales situation that could end up being very costly.
Here are some of the main claims that those OTHER companies made:
They claimed that ALL smaller contractors fund their current job with the money from their next job. They tried to make you believe that those smaller companies are all about to go bankrupt and are taking an advance on your money to stay afloat for their current job.
- Claim: Financial Stability:
- Fact: EA Roofing had no such cash flow problems. Even after the job was done, they were in no big hurry to submit the final invoice.
- Claim: Workmanship
- The competition claimed that the other contractors put the new roof on over top of your old roof just to save money.
- Fact: EA Roofing and Siding did very high quality work. They most definitely took the old roof off, down to the bare wood, before they put the new roof on. If they didn't do that there would have been no way to check for bad decking. They did NOT cut corners to save money.
- Claim: Other contractors don't have a good warranty on their work
- They liked to emphasize that you don't have a warranty for the roof if the company goes out of business (and they are all about to go out of business as they told you in point number one...).
- Fact: EA roofing gave a good warranty: They upgraded the roof to architectural shingles for no extra cost, because they wanted their work to "really look great." The architectural shingles automatically come with a 30 year warranty. In my opinion, the manufacturer warranty is not very useful. It is extremely unlikely you'll ever need it, because NONE of them covers hail damage, which is the real killer of roofs. The fact that it is excluded from the manufacturers warranty is no big deal, since hail damage is already covered by our homeowner's policy.
- [The siding also came with a warranty. I don't recall at the moment how long it is for...]
- Claim: Other contractors void the siding warranty by using a drop in backer...
- Then they show you that their siding design has integrated the siding with the insulation (one piece, with no air gaps). They emphasize that their siding is rated to 190 mph, while the regular siding is mounted on top of the insulation and has air gaps and is only rated to 130 mph. In my opinion, this was a VERY weak selling point. If there are 190 mph winds, then my house is going to get more damage from crashing trees and flying branches, NOT because there are air gaps between the siding and the backer... I'm also not convinced that the integrated siding is all that great, because it is glued in place and does not allow the house to breathe. (I'd rather let my house breathe and not trap the toxins inside...) Either way, if the siding does rip off, then insurance will cover it. Even better, Virginia has a law that prevents your insurance rates from going up if the claim is due to a natural disaster. I'd rather save the difference in price and get NEW siding for the cost of my deductible, if that storm does hit.
- Claim: Other contractors are unable to do larger jobs
- Since we wanted two windows inserted in a brick wall [NOT A TRIVIAL JOB BY ANY MEANS...], we were prepared to hire another contractor to get that done, but EA Roofing and Siding had the appropriate connections to subcontract out that work and coordinate the timing of the projects to knock them out at one time. Very impressive and with INCREDIBLE results! It completely changed the look and atmosphere of the room and main level. We absolutely LOVE the light and the new view to the back yard that we never had before.
- Summary:
- Apparently the large companies know where their competition is and they go out of their way to slam them for hours on end before they will give you their price. EA Roofing and Siding didn't spend any time denigrating other contractors. They just came in, showed you their products and got right to the price, which was SIGNIFICANTLY better than ANYONE else!!! Their workmanship was phenomenal and project management impeccable. On top of that, their price was unbeatable. I just wish we could have saved ourselves all that time researching other contractors before we discovered EA Roofing and Siding. Hope this info saves you that time. God bless.

"Adrian was great. The estimate was about $20,000 for the second story, composite deck we want which means that the project will be put off for a little while. We will probably get a couple other estimates for comparison at that point, but we were very happy with our consultation experience with Adrian."

"Beitzell did a great job for us. The estimator was punctual and professional, and the price was $1600 less than the highest of four bids we received - for better quality construction than offered by the highest bidder. Our lot is not flat, so the fence had to run up and down hills and was very much a custom job - no pre-built panels. The work was done in one day, the crew was neat and hard-working, and the quality of the fence fully met our expectations. We paid half up front, and the rest after the fence was completed. I would use Beitzell again without hesitation - absolutely nothing not to like.

"We are extremely pleased with the work of Earth Friendly Services overall. How the space looks now really exceeds what our expectation was for the end result. Our basement space was pretty much a mess and posed a number of remodeling challenges, including a very uneven floor surface, moving of the gas meter, support poles in weird places, multiple water valves and other items that require access. Yet with how it looks now, you'd never know it was such a mess to begin with. Both of the lead guys for the company, Steve and Bill, were good listeners and were patient with our questions and our issues as things came up when they were doing the work. Both of them had good attention to detail and worked to get to what we wanted, rather than what would have been easiest for them. For example, we asked them to use a type of drop-ceiling tile they'd not worked with before, and they got it done, with the result being a fantastic-looking, modern ceiling, rather than the industrial look most weird spaces end up using. There was no down-time during the project, as someone (usually several people) was/were down in the basement working every day, resulting in their finishing the job exactly in the timeframe that they said they would (originally they said it would take three to three-and-a-half weeks, and they were done in three weeks and three days). There was none of that "Hey, this is going to cost a little more than we said it would" or any of the nightmare stories you hear from other people getting their basements finished. It cost exactly what they said it would up-front. Further, their total cost was $8K lower than the closest bid we received for the same job! It sounds crazy to say this, but these days it feels like an oddity when contractors do exactly what they say they are going to do for exactly what they say it's going to cost, but that is exactly what happened in our experience with Earth Friendly. This is the company you want to go with if you are on a budget yet nonetheless expect a quality product and a professional contractor with a solid work ethic."

"The process began with their designer, Jean, coming to the house and discussing what we wanted and offering some ideas. Within days we had an estimate and design. We revised from there and agreed to the work. They actually were able to being early as another job had to be delayed as the people were not ready for them. The workers were good and efficient and Colin, the owner, made certain work proceeded well and any questions we had were promptly answered. Their workmanship is wonderful. The stairs and decking on them are great with added touches that made them work for getting to the yard better than expected. The pavers are beautiful and perfectly installed and the retaining wall is simply outstanding -- the have great stone workers. All nice to work with and attentive to us and detail.

"The guys with All Phase Fence Inc. did a fantastic job with our fencing. They were prompt, professional and courteous. The owner, Tom Britton, made sure to discuss all aspects of the fencing project in advance to ensure we got what we wanted. Our project was slightly complicated as it involved installation of several types of fencing in three different locations, as well as repairs to an existing fence. Yet the entire job was completed to our satisfaction. The materials are beautiful and the installation very professional. Once the project was complete, the owner personally came back to check on the work and make sure we were happy. I would recommend using All Phase Fence Inc for all your fencing needs.
