Upon removal of old shingles, extensive wood rot was discovered in the chimney area and fascia due to poor original design of the chimney, which looks like it was added to the house after initial construction and was done by original or previous homeowner without professional expertise or up to code. Each time something was removed, he found more wood rot or poor construction which needed to be fixed.
