"Ben did our new construction home inspection and we are so pleased with his service. First off he took the initiative and worked with our realtor and construction company to hammer out the best time to do the inspection. One major thing off my list of things to coordinate. As with new construction dates got pushed back, work wasn't as complete as it should have been. This could have been a nightmare to deal with but Ben was a pro, he was understanding of our position, and worked with us to make sure we got our report before our final walk thru. Which mean he had less than 12 hours to get his report to us!! But he pulled through and we were prepared on the big day. He takes his work very seriously and does an outstanding job. We called around to a lot of places and are so glad we went with him. If you're reading this and on the fence.. call him!! You'll be so glad you did, he definitely goes the extra mile to do the best by his customers. And he's just a plain awesome guy who does what he can to make your home inspection process as painless as possible."

"Very thorough. I wanted an inspection to get an idea of what I might need to pay attention to in preparing my home for a possible sale. I was also able to get a radon test and termite inspection through them. They were well worth it."

"Greg Jones and Sheryl Thompson were on the ball. My appointment was scheduled quickly and confirmed via email. I didn't have to schedule a separate termite inspection. They handled that for me and one payment took care of it all. Greg was very thorough with his inspection of the home and went over every detail with us. He answered all our questions. We ended up not getting the first home and have a contract on another home and are using Greg Jones as our inspector. <br />"

"It went excellent. Although my granddaughter knew little about Home Inspections and Radon Testing beforehand, Kerry explained exactly what he was doing and what the results meant. Not only did he provide an excellent oral explanation, Kerry's written report identified all areas, displaying pictures of such along with clear identification and problems. With his detail of the written report, you are able to go back and verify your complete understanding; his report provides a detailed checklist you can use while you have problem areas corrected. I would not hesitate to use Kerry again or refer others to use his services! His prices are most reasonable as they are in consideration of square feet being inspected."

"This company was wonderful...friendly, professional and we felt like they listened to our concerns and addressed the issue.  They installed a radon system in our basement, which required drilling into the foundation and installing an exhaust fan through the roof in our garage.  They showed up on the day/time they promised, worked quickly & efficiently.  They cleaned up after themselves.  We had a slight mishap w/ some drywall in the ceiling of our garage, during the exhaust fan installation...but they quickly called and drywall company and had it fixed at no extra charge to us.   <br /> They followed up, as promised, with the new radon testing and were timely getting us the results.   <br /> I've called a couple of times, since the installation, with questions about the monitor reading ... they were very professional both times.  Listened to my concerns and explained the readings to me - both times offering to come out if I felt that they should take a look at the system (which wasn't required).  So glad that we used Protect Environmental.  Our neighbors have since had radon systems installed and opted to go with a company that quoted them a lower price...but they have had poor customer service during and after the installation.  Protect Environmental was worth every penny! <br />"

"The guys called before coming over and were on time. They introduced themselves and quickly got to work unloading equipment and moving any items that needed to be moved (with approval, of course).  <br /> They were very efficient with their work and took just under 4 hours to complete the entire installation. There were no surprise fees and everything went smoothly.  <br /> They came back a couple days later to get the radon test that they left in basement and reported results within a few business days. <br /> No hesitation in recommending them again! <br />"

"It was difficult to find one company to do all of the work we required. We had three estimates. One estimate was substantially higher and they tried to up-sell us products and services that were not needed. One estimate was lower, but not guaranteed, not a member or positive review on the BBB or Angie's List and we were asked to pay for services in advance (NEVER acceptable!) Aqualock representatives explained their services thoroughly, explained how and when and by whom the work would be completed, and then provided services and pricing within a written contract.  <br /> They worked with us on scheduling as there was extensive work that needed to be completed prior to a real estate closing and all staff were very friendly and professional. Additional work was needed to get the radon level below the required 4.0, but we were given a discounted price on parts and installation. When the work was completed, we were thrilled that the radon level was 1.1, the basement was dryer and a musty odor and dampness was gone.  <br /> We were so pleased with the work completed on the home we were selling, we had them do similar and additional work at a home we purchased at a later date. Highly recommend. We could not have been more pleased with the service performed.  <br />"

"The initial inspection and estimate went great.  I felt absolutely no pressure to buy.  The guys at Crawlspace Doctor spent time teaching me about the crawl space and why the area under the house should be conditioned like the inside of the home.  They even came back for a second time to answer additional questions without any confirmation that I would be hiring them to do the work. <br /> The quality of the work was outstanding and the job was completed ahead of schedule.  They determined my dryer vent was too clogged to clean and replaced it at no additional cost.  They also moved the dryer vent and bricked up the hole left in the side of the house at no additional cost. <br /> I have even seen increased efficiency with my heating.  I used to keep my house at 68-70 degrees fahrenheit during the winter.  I now keep it at 65 degrees fahrenheit and remain 100% comfortable.  I would assume this is due to the fact that there is no longer cold air under the house that pulls heat away from the house.  The crawl space is now heated and cooled the same as the inside of the house.  <br /> It's a dream to have a vapor barrier installed if you do any work under the house or have water shut-off's under the house.  I can freely enter the crawl space (without it being excessively hot or cold), move around easily, and come out just as clean as I went in. <br /> I will admit that the cost of the work was quite a bit more in comparison to other companies, but no one else was going to do anywhere near the amount of work that they did.  I still believe the cost was more than fair for the quality of work that was performed. <br /> Lastly, I would encourage anyone to ask for before and after pictures of the work these guys have done. <br />"

"Lance and his wife did a tremendous job of fixing our radon problem. They were very well versed on what needed to be done. They were extremely deligent in getting their work done in a timely and safe manner. They stayed at my residence until they were sure that everything was done and done right. I would highly recommend them for anyone that needs a radon problem fixed."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Coxs Creek, KY

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
