"I dealt with Leon De Anda for my roof work. Leon was honest and professional and very informative about what could be done with my roof. He offered me a few options and also asked me if there were anything specific I wanted done. I basically described what I wanted and he curtailed his bid to what I was looking for at the best price. "I contacted four of the top rated angies list roofers in north county, all award winners...using the Angie's list mobile app. Three responded by the first business day and setup appointments to give me a quote. Mike at Sequoia was able to meet me the soonest. Had a quote already prepared using online data. He sat down at my kitchen table and explained the materials he uses, bringing a sample of the underlayment so I could see how durable it was. Also showed me options for low-e foil to reduce energy costs as well as new tile options. Not a high pressure sales but as informing me of the options. His crew started the following week and finished within a week and a half. Crew was punctual always starting promptly at 8am and cleaned up at the end of every day. We just had some of the worst rains with 4in in 4 days of almost noon stop rain. Rains used to be a time of anxiety because we knew we'd be wondering where the next leak would show up. After inspecting the roof and chimney flashing Tony told me my roof was actually very well done and in good shape, and that in his opinion the source for water leaking into my home was due to a rusted out chimney case cover and termination cap (I got those items replaced as suggested and my problem was solved). I had actually called two companies to get an analysis and quotes to fix the problem. The other company told that my relatively new roof should be ripped up and replaced in that area of the roof. I appreciate the professional and honest approach of Great Western and they will be who I will use in the future when it does come time to replace or repair my roof."

"We had 5 or 6 contractors come out over a 2 year period, that gave us quotes ranging from $900 to $7000. When we finally made a decision on a company (Protecta Roofing, estimate $1500), they didn't show up on the scheduled day, then called me a week later (when it was raining) and asked if they could come out that day to do the work. We immediately hired a 2nd company (SRS Roofing, estimate $1900), who called me the day after they were scheduled to do the work, and told me that the quote was too low and that they would send me a new quote, but never did. I was ready to give up on Angie's List all together because the contractors seem so flaky. When we got Zenith out to do a quote, I was very pleased with Bryan's knowledge, explanations, timeline and quote ($1100). He got to work a couple days later (in between rain), he cleaned the roof and sealed it, and provided us with a 2 year warranty. I highly recommend Zenith for a no bull, well done job."

"Everything went really well.  Financing was no problem and Lynn helped with any issues we came across.  The work started within 2 weeks and was done in about a week.  The electrical company they use for the panel and converter did a great job as well.  All the workers cleaned up after themselves and were very helpful.  We had a few sky tunnels added as well as an attic fan without any problems.  The roof looks beautiful and the solar system works as designed.  Our city inspector even commented on the quality system we got and the excellent installation.  We are very satisfied.

"I was planning to put solar panels on my roof, so needed a roof inspection. I wanted to make sure my roof would last at least 10 more years. I selected several companies and A-1 Budget roofing responded promptly and had a good price. I found out that my existing roofing felt (tar paper) was worn and needed replacing, but my tile was in good shape and could be reused.
First, I had my roof tile cleaned to remove algae.
Then A-1 Budget roofing scheduled the work around the rain, and coordinated the installation with the solar panel company. They removed and stacked the old tile on my roof, removed the old roofing felt and replaced with two layers of 40 pound felt. They had the solar company place their brackets on the roof so they could properly seal them before they completed the re-roofing. This took several days to complete, but all was done before the rain.
They also removed some very old bird nests that were tucked under the eaves, and put up bird stop to keep those birds from nesting again. They replaced some flashing as needed and some broken tile, and when they were done all of the color matched perfectly.
The original bid was for $8500 and he had to check on permit fees from the city. The final invoice included the original $8500, minor costs of $64 for new fascia board, and $380 for roofing permit.
My new roof is warranted for 10 years, but they told me it should last another 40 - 50 years with two layers of 40 pound felt.
