"Outstanding residential renovation, from initial design to move-in ready. Charles Miller transformed 1500sqft. of semi-finished random rooms into a spacious elegant apartment. Beautiful flow from expanded living room to new gourmet kitchen, with cook’s retreat room, smooth primary bedroom with new walkin closet and laundry, luxury bathroom, sweet playroom for grandchildren, and a space-efficienct mechanical/storage room. New lighted display cabinet wall-inset, all new flooring, ceiling lights. He knows his subcontractors well, and supervises for timeliness and to meet his own high standards. Mr. Miller has well-honed aesthetic skills that repeatedly improved outcomes. Tile walls and kitchen counter designs met properly. The redesigned kitchen windows improved view of trees/garden. Throughout this project i came to rely on Mr. Miller’s experience, vision, care and integrity. Highest recommendation!!"

"I contacted Creative Basements for my daylight basement finishing project. The detailed competitive quote I received coupled with the fact that I knew I would be communicating with the owner of the Company (and not a project manager) throughout the process made is a no-brainer for me and I picked Creative Basement from several other companies I was considering. Jason was very responsive throughout the entire process and answered all of my questions prior to signing the contact and throughout the entire process. I ended up having finished approximately 1650 sq ft of finished space which included a living room w/fireplace, bar, full bathroom, bedroom, game room and gym. I would highly recommend this company."

Customers say: Quality work

"Chuck completed a second-story addition for us, transforming a high ceiling into an office and an additional bedroom that seamlessly expanded our upstairs living space. He was highly responsive, organized, and extremely easy to work with throughout the entire process. His team cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day, and the project was completed ahead of schedule. His crews were always polite, professional, and respectful of our home. We would absolutely recommend Chuck for any project and will definitely use him again in the future."

"Excellence, Exceptional and Exceeds. Those three words describe my experience with Homevantage. I recently contracted with Michael McArthur and his Homevantage team to build a screened-in back patio from just a small concrete slab. I showed Michael pictures of what I had in mind without even seeing anything like it in person and boy did it pay off, my vision was brought to life. The craftsmanship was excellent, the customer service from beginning to end was exceptional and the end product exceeded my expectations. I am very happy and have received so many compliments on how beautiful my new addition is from everyone who has seen the completed project. It was an overall great experience and I would highly recommend using this company for any type of residential remodeling you are seeking because without a doubt I am very glad that I did. Thank you Michael, Pamela, Tyler and the rest of the team for all the great work on this project."

"I gotta tell ya, Roger is the man! He recently had his crew did some work on my back porch, installing screens, plexiglass, and a door, and boy, did he knock it out of the park! The screens weren't his, and neither was the door - he got 'em from a different company. But Roger and his men? They didn't bat an eye. They took those pieces and made 'em fit like they were made for my porch. Now, my porch has several imperfections, and the frames were not even. But that didn't stop Roger. He worked around all those bumps and chips, fitting in the screens and plexiglass like a pro. Not a gap in sight when he was done! And let's talk about communication. Roger kept me in the loop the whole time. No fancy jargon or anything, just straight talk about what he was doing and how he was doing it. Made the whole thing feel like a breeze. Now, I know what you're thinking - this must've cost a fortune, right? Wrong! Roger's prices were super reasonable. I mean, considering the top-notch job he did, I would've expected to pay a lot more. So, if you're looking for a contractor, give Roger a call. He's a straight-shooter, a hard worker, and he'll get the job done right without breaking the bank. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!"

"Juanes and his team were phenomenal. They were on time and on budget. They executed exactly as they said they would and kept me in the loop the entire time. One of the best aspects of working with them was their recommendations and assistance with design choices. They handled everything from start to finish and were extremely professional. Could not have asked for more!"

"Once hired, Mark and his team arrived on time and ready to work. Time line is running just as Mark estimated 12 to 14 weeks. We are only half way through that as I write this review. Looking forward to the finished product."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Sandy Springs, GA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
